Clark graduated from Globe University with her Associate of Applied Science in Massage Therapy and is a member of a professional massage association, so she said that she feels prepared to take on professional massage.
"I have what it takes to be a professional massage therapist," she said.
On May 22, Clark began her journey as a professional massage therapist in the spa she is currently renting out of Sharon's Style in Detroit Lakes. Her business, she said, is called Body Essentials by Kat and offers a variety massage types (also called modalities).
"I do pregnancy, geriatric, hot stone, Swedish and deep tissue massages. I also do pediatric massage," she said. "I love all types of modalities."
Clark said that massage has many benefits, including pain reduction and stress relief, and that her goal is to ensure that anyone who visits her for a massage is comfortable and relaxed.
"I want my spa to look like a lake and have the comfort, fun and relaxation of the lake scene," she said.
In addition to massage therapy, Clark will also perform lash extensions. She was trained and certified through Lavish Lashes in Minneapolis/St. Paul and, although she isn't quite ready to book appointments, she's currently taking models for training purposes at no cost to the model.
Overall--after a busy first week--Clark is ready to share her love of massage with the community.
"Massage therapy is not a cure-all, but it does imply a compassionate and caring respect for others," she said. "It enables the body to respond so as to heal itself."
