The San Francisco 49ers have a day off on Tuesday following their first four practices of training camp. The team had seven players missing practice on Monday, and Daniel Kilgore mentioned that legs were getting a little tired.
Some players will be at the team’s facility working with the training staff, but according to Matt Barrows, the team has worked in some extra incentive for players to come in. Strength coach Ray Wright is bringing in 20 massage therapists and acupuncturists, and the team will have an 11 a.m. yoga class.
Some players likely have a system in place for their off-days. But for plenty of others that don’t, particularly the rookies, this provides a chance to relax a little and get their bodies a little more right for the next stretch of practices. The 49ers return to practice on Wednesday, with their next off day scheduled for this coming Sunday. They’ve had plenty of offseason to get in shape, but practice is different from anything they’ve done the past few months, and adding the pads makes it that much more intense. An opportunity to get the body re-focused for the next stretch of practices is valuable.
