Last year I started reviewing the MP's themselves and then I stopped. I was wondering if you think it would be worth while if I were to tour several MP's to see what their facilities are like and report them back here as a general review of the facilities.

You know like the decor, cleanliness, showers, etc. Not to mention the average number of ladies on shift, if they have a website etc....

Are you in favour of this being done?

Its a factorial review....but yes you are right about everyone not agreeing on the perception of what is what....

But I would not be the only one doing it...there are simply too many to visit

I would only have one 'major' concern with this concept........

Normally, in any business envrioment, when a 'client' is coming for a tour the whole facility gets a major 'clean-up'.

If there is a specific time/date to visit set to visit the MP the owner/manager is going to go through the place with a fine tooth comb to endure everything is perfect..(who knows AC may even replace the towels).

This would end up with a review that would not be equal to how the average client would see the place, in some cases that is.

The end result could be that a positive review gets posted of a new MP as a result of the 'planned' visit. Later on someone else goes there, based upon the review of it being a 'clean place' only to find a 'dump'. After a couple incidents the reviews would no longer be considered credible.

You should also be able to take the MPA's out of the spa to question them freely, without the management's interference.

With a suprise visit you now look like a 'weirdo', or worse........

You come in, you don't want a massage - all you want to do is inspect the premises.........Now you act like LE or By-Law?????

If you ever go back there for a massage and meet the same person at the desk chances are all you wil end up getting is just a massage and nothing more...

I have a suggestion on how to overcome this scenario...........................Check your PM.........

I thought it would be a good idea to have reviews of the facilities, thats why I asked the question to begin with....

We all know that some of the better known spas such as IT are well maintained. ie: the showers are wiped down after every client...

I do know that both IT and HFH have recently undergone renovations....so perhaps instead of me reviewing them how about everyone post a review of the facilities of a place they have visited recently.

I do not disagree with you original concept at all.

I think it would be an excellent idea. I just think that the less notice a particular place gets the more realistic the review would be.

If the MP is told that they will be getting a visit from a "massageplanet.net Inspector" some time in the next month, or two they need to either keep the place in tip-top shape for that time frame, if it isn't already or risk a bad review of the premises.

For the places that aren't in tip-top shape maybe a month, or two, of keeping the place 'clean' would stick.......

Great idea Sheik, but this project's credibility would go through the roof if you paid the way for someone who's been critical of you in the past. I'm free Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays after 4:00.

I agree with the concept as well. I think you are trying to establish a minimum level of accomodation that is considered acceptable at an MP. Sort of the way a hotel gets a CAA rating.

I think it would best be done by a questionnaire to massageplanet.netites. Then some concrete things can be hashed out of it. For example the results could be shown to any interested owners or soon to be owners and they would show that, 73% of hobbiests surveyed would be twice as likely to go to an MP with in room showers as they would to one with out.

From there owners can decide what if any upgrades need doing. massageplanet.netites can also see what is the average level of ammenities that their bretheren accept.

I think it's a bad idea. There are enough MP goers here already. Just put in a few words about the facilities when you write your reviews. No need for someone to go on an MP crusade for this.

While I agree that there are more than enough MP goers here. There do exists establishments that turn you off the moment you walk because of the decorum..............

There have been numerous reviews on MP's in which one of us walked into, was met by an 'ugly' lady and immediately left....

How many have walked into a place looked around, before the 'receptionist' approached and walked out because the place looked like a 'dive' and not posted about it............

If, by doing this, a couple of those 'dives' clean their place up...we may find a couple of 'hidden gems'................

Besides it doesn't cost you anything and may save you from an 'eyesore'......

The frequency of MP's relevant to the overall quality really isn't much of a factor. More than likely about 50% of all MP's now have been under some type of scrutiny. I doubt any further investments would result from a mere drive by. It's the "drive by's" that should be the concern of hobbyists, and I use that term loosely.

Many times, I've arrived only to leave, but upon further investigation found that, in fact, there was much more credit to be given, where credit is due. We all have bias's; it's in our nature, but to "oust" any single MP based on the general consensus, is merely postponing a reality which at one time or another we all have to face.

In short, I think we have to achieve a balance, where by, both the MP facilities and the service provided are taken into consideration, but not, by any means, the, "be and end all", in how we judge a persons, obvious, efforts to better the outcome for all concerned. Having said this, I don't think we shouldn't be aware of, at least to some extent, of what we, as individuals expect to gain. It really can be a thankless, empty, unsatisfying task ...

Well the goal here is to establish a section that describes the facilities. During my travels and I'm sure the same has happened to you guys as well. The MPA will often ask me what do I think of this place or that place and that they are considering working there.

For example, Blue Pearl is stunning and no expense appears to have been spared to build the place. However I really dont see anything that actually describes what the place is like, what the "features" are etc....

Then you look at Alpha Care...I mean the place isnt that bad, but it could use a hell of a lot of cleaning up. To this date I've no idea how many rooms they have and if every room has its own shower. Nor do I know how many girls are on shift on the average day/night/graveyard shift.

I'm sure information like that would benefit the hobbyists, especially if it lays out the bare facts about the place. I'm also sure that the ladies would also appreciate it for their own sinister reasons
