addicted to massages!!!

Guys and gals, I am 20 years old and am addicted to getting massages, i must have used over 2 grand over the year. i keep on going and say im quitting but then go again. anyone know of anyone to talk to about this??? i have a gf and thats not even helping!!! going to strip clubs dont even help cause i just go afterwards. this is some bolshit. any ideas on how you guys limit yourselves???

Dude, I had the same problem.

When you go to a MP you get a positive stimulus, and every succesive visit re-enforces that stimulus. Thus, you associate MPs with a feeling you would like to repeat. Psychology classes...


I know it sounds crude, but one way it just to jerk off more. Obviously, it takes away the desire to go, and afterwards you'll feel good that you didn't blow another $140.

Also, try and taper off your visits. Instead of once a week, try once every 2 weeks. Once you've got that down, try once a month.. and so on.

When I have a craving for a massage, I try to tell myself that the money I'll blow will last much longer if I don't go to the MP. I mean, you blow $100 and it only lasts 1/2 hour. With that same amount of money you can have a very enjoyable evening out.

For some it works the opposite, but for me after a terrible mpa experience I usually take more than a few days, possibly a week or so, to want to go again.

Okay... this will sound incredibly dumb... but I have a system that works for me and essentially gets me free massages. Yup, free. I know what you are thinking... you gotta sign up for some Tom Vue program (I miss the babes on the boat) for the starter kit. Nope... I will give you my incredibly stupid system for free.

When I buy lunch at work... it costs me $10-$20 for something pedestrian. When I either brown bag or skip I check it off... and 14 of these gets me one free (yes, free!) massage!

Ok, it is a dumb idea. However, it rations me and I would rather spend my money on a tanned and toned polish woman than some lacklustre cafeteria fare. I also eat better.

Note if you lunch every day at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, you can get a free massage every day or two!

I think I have officially risen to a level where I rival Sheik's financial acumen!

I disagree with your method. Consider it like quitting smoking, the only way to go is cold turkey.

Make yourself a small promise. Take a period of time, say 1 or two months. Now how often do you go now? Say once a week. Now, once a week take the cost of your regular session (anywhere from $100.00 to $260.00 depending where you go and what you get) and stash it away. Somewhere private that you will not access except to make deposits.

After your predetermined time is up, go get the money. Then take it and treat yourself to something...i.e. a dvd player, a nice night out with your gf, car payments, put it towards a trip, maybe even a massage lol.

Now sit back and think about what your hobby is costing you in terms of possessions, not just in cash. It might wake you up to what you could have.

Sit down and think of some things you have wanted for a while but thought you should wait to get (ie. a new TV, new leather jacket, etc.) Go out an buy that large ticket item. This will give you satisfaction that you have denied yourself and will help you concentrate on something else besides MPs. As well, this will make less money available for you to go to MPs. Ever since I did this, I have been going to MPs much less. It isn't a total cure, but it gets you thinking in other directions and you now have something tangible to show for your spending.

I've used Mudd's technique very recently...I was jonesing for a rub but then decided to spend my money on some new clothes and some new electronics.... then I was broke and had no money to spend on rubs but at least I have something to show for in terms of what I used my money on

Anytime I walk into Future Shop and see those Plasma screen TVs, I say to myself I wish I could afford one. Then I think...Holy Shit !!!!...I can. If I stop going to see MPAs. This is what we should be saying to ourselves. On one hand you can get 30 or so half our sessions over the course of a year or you could be enjoying plasma screen TV. The choice is yours. Those half hour session are so hard to give up....DAMN !!!!!!

Why do you want to be cured of such a wonderful activity. If I didn't do this I would be trying to pick up one of the girls from work or some thing dumb like that and get my ass in a pickle.

My only problem is my wife wont do oral so some times I have to opt for a SP but I much prefer a MPA.

Sorry this one doesn't work.

I put $12,000 into a really nice home theatre and I still go out.
The only changes were that now I have stopped going to the SCs and use the MPs and some SPs instead.
More value for money with an MPa or an SP.

Just relax, lay back and enjoy - shit now I have to run over to Sande's.

I've tried to quit for a long time, especially due to the guilt of being in a relationship. I envy those with the carefree attitude of calling this a hobby rather than an addiction. I've been to SCA/SLA meetings and a therapist. (they hold these 12 step meetings in Toronto, do a web search) I am not sure my opinion of them as they have helped many; they are predominently gay (meetings) so if your homophobic you could try a therapist. They are no magic bullet but they can help. For me it's not a question of a "bad" thing that needs to stop, but more so, what do I want out of life. This lifestyle keeps me in the same revolving door relationship to it, not taking on new challenges and keeping old fears.
In short don't fight it, just find personal ways to enrich your life and hopefully it will become less obsessive.

yep. Everytime i've spend too long in a relationship, I find myself frequenting mps more and more. That's when I know i need a new relationship.

It all comes from being a guy and our natural and over indulgence for sex. We think about it every day (every 6seconds), compiled this with our sense of exploration, we're alway eager to find whats out there, variety is the spice of life (but with a cost). A formula which makes it very difficult to resist. I've taken up the hobby about five years ago, and in that time the money I spent must have been enough to put a good down payment for a high-end sport car. Just working out the figures is mind boggling.

Here's a rough estimate:

1 half/hr sessions = $110 = 1 session per week = 52 weeks in a year = $5720 x 5yrs =

$28 600 !!

Those are just a general rate for half/hr NR, not taking into consideration of BS and the frequency per week, which I must admit I've done in more then one occasion.

And in more then one occasion I've kicked myself for it. I don't know of any cure for this "addiction" or else I would've taken it by now. All I can say is that, this matter is not isolated, we all succumb to it. We are all contributors to the booming adult catering business.

Indeed, I spend my money somewhere else, i.e. new TV, going out to dinners with friends, viewing DVD at home, etc....


This is not a cheap hobby, but just think of how many Carribean trips that you can save up when you reduce your MP visits.
