there is a Diploma in Clinical reflexology you can do (that's what I'm planning), or you can take individual modules in specific areas you are interested in.

I'm not sure if the following may be of interest to you.
There is a course for Advanced Reflexology Training (websitewww.artreflex.com) and the course aims to give postgraduates training in clinical reflexology.
I am signed up to do a course at Oxford School of Reflexoogy in May but they also do them in Central London. Price about £170 for a weekend seminar.
I was fortunate enough to listen to a talk recently about ART by Tony Porter, who formulated and adapted the ART technique and it sounds fascinating so I have signed up.

I've already been on two ART seminars and am due to take my third one in May at The Oxford School of Reflexology (maybe see you there Gina). I really rate ART and the methods that Tony Porter uses. If anyone was thinking of doing advanced techniques, I would definately recommend this course. I have done other advanced training but this is the one that I've found most useful for getting results. There are lots of other types of advanced reflexology courses, it depends on what you want to do. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Depends what you mean by advanced.
The VTCT offer an Advanced RX course which is rather like the AOR's normal course.
Whatever college you find, make sure you check the courses criteria as the the titles do not always reflect what's on offer.

I've signed up to an ART seminar at the AoR conference this July! V exciting.

Rachel, did you mean ART specifically or just further reflexology training eg Vertical Reflexology, Baby Reflexology etc? If you are AoR there are all sorts of seminars and workshops you can do which are advertised in Reflexions. The AoR does some seminars in London which are only about £40 for the day - great value. If you have an AoR area group near you they might well organise training days too. Our group welcomes non AoR people, though I can't speak for all the area groups in the UK. Hello and thankyou everyone for your response. Im studying reflexology vtct level 3, not sure if its the advance one or not, but ive seen two people work on clientswho have done advanced reflexology and they seem more techinal in there method...Maybe its just me...i just feel i want to learn more about reflexology?! They showed me how to balance which i thought was very useful....

Will have a look at the seminars/conferences later.

Hi Hallos

I studied the VTCT level dip in reflexology and graduated recently. There is a separate advanced course which seems to be the same moves but with linking techniques. I have read Guide to Precision Reflexology by Jan Williamson recently and may go on one of her courses as it describes a lot of linking techniques for incorporating into your routine. It seems to be a short 2 day course which is intriguing as the VTCT is a year and my tutor said the moves are the same just the linking and the theory.

How lucky you are having trained At The British School of Reflexology .

I have just started a Post Grad Holistic course at my local college..it covers advance subjects in aroma and reflexology...plus diet and nutrition, stress management, crystals and color therapy.

I have just been given my reflexology home work which is research The History of reflexology with the uk...so of course Ann Gilllander came up and her brother A porter.

Im just stuck on Dorren Bayley...i cant seem to find much on her, other than she was a nurse and trained under Eunice Ingham.

you can still do a 1 day in ~VRT~ vertical reflex therapy, and I highly recommend it.
You give the treatment with the client standing up, then you also use points in the hand at the same time.
You only do about 20 minutes but you can then continue with the client reclined, but because you have already covered all the points, their isn't much to do. The balancer is a good move.

I think I paid £70 for the one day course, and I organised the other delegates (ie needed 10), so the tutor came to us.

Thanks for your reply, and yes VRT sounds really good and a day course sounds like its good value for money. I just think for the moment ive got quite alot to learn and maybe VRT would be something for me to follow later.

Hi does anyone know how you determine the sex of an unborn baby by looking at the sole of the foot. I was told that refelxologists can determine the sex as one foot near the inside arch is slightly red and a little puffy. So which side indicates male or female?

Hi Ali,

I've not heard of this being able to determine the sex of baby - would be interesting if it is true?

I've just done 3 treatements on a pregnant lady and found those areas to be puffier depending on what side baby was laying.

Client found it funny that if I was working on left foot, she'd feel baby move to right side etc.

I hadnt heard of that before but IU havent done advanced reflexology nor do I specialise in pregnant woman. I was recently at a spa and someone said it was possible.

A British nurse called Doreen Bayley worked in the same hospital as Eunice Ingham. It was she who brought Reflexology to the UK, where she started her own school called 'The Bayley School of Reflexology'. Hope it's not oo late to help.

Hi, having trained with Jan Williamson ,the precision linking is different to the vtct techniques , but should you attend one of her courses you wont be sorry as she is an amazing teacher, and is well up there along with the best there is, and highly respected within the higher circles.. however not trying to discredit your tutor in anyway ,i have done a vtct course in the past, and the moves or techniques are quite different, as is the theory, and the links. i know Jan does does do a very short introducing link work, im not sure if it covers all of them as a couple of days dosnt seem long enough..as her full course is also a year long covering a couple of full days a month, and is very in depth.
however any training you would get would be very much worth your while, andi wish you the best of luck
