Viagra apparently can help men with more than just erectile dysfunction.

A new study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that Viagra lowers the risk of heart disease in men by up to 39% — and it even helps reduce the risk of early death.

Researchers from the University of Southern California studied 70,000 adult men with an average age of 52 who’d been diagnosed with erectile dysfunction at some point between 2006 and 2020.

They looked at the participants’ medical records to see who had taken the drug and whether or not they have suffered heart problems during the follow-up period. Factors such as race, height and weight were taken into account when adjusting the findings.

The study found that those who used erectile dysfunction drugs were less likely to suffer from heart issues — and deaths from heart conditions dropped by almost 40%.

I think I will alert my GP about this - there’s about 23 hours a day that I am without an erection. She (my GP) recently told me that I had to cut back on sweets, bad news as my “salty” had turned “sweet” and will likely go back to “salty” which will likely mean less “salty” as well.

I did not do a deep dive on this, but speculating from my chair perhaps both things are true - that both regular sexual activity and Viagra both have longevity and health benefits. Viagra boosts the level of nitrous oxide, which is a an important substance used throughout the body that declines with age. Viagra is often use by body builders for the "pump" (blood engorgement of muscles). I have been convinced for a long time that regular ejaculation is good for the prostate (use it or lose it). As for sex itself, the psychological benefit of intimacy I believe has very real positive physical benefits. So when your body starts declining and your wife is tired of you, take Viagra and see an MPA for "health" reasons.

It is pretty easy to get a prescription, just ask your family doctor. I do not know about health insurance coverage. As a prostate cancer survivor I've been using cialis, Viagra and their generic counterparts since post treatment. Great for promoting blood flow (the number one reason that I was prescribed to me). And as a gym guy it does provide a great pump. What men must understand it does NOTHING for libido. ED is a side effect of cancer treatment (amongst other things) but the drive and desire won't be fixed by it.

This is completely bullshit. Who sponsored this article? Viagara? Sounds like an infomercial rather than a news article. It doesn't give a single reason why. Any drug that diverts blood from the heart and brain can't be good for you.

Unless someone considers your penis is actually your heart, it's complete nonsense. It doesn't help blood flow to your heart. It only helps flood flow to the penis. If someone is having problems with their heart, they have bigger problems, and Viagara certainly won't cure them.
