A 32-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested Friday evening after multiple clients complained about inappropriate physical contact at The Avenues mall massage parlor where he worked.
Qiting Duan was booked into the Duval County jail on a count of sexual battery and two counts of attempted sexual battery, according to his arrest report. He remains in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The Sheriff’s Office said Monday at least three people have come forward since Feb. 11 and reported incidents involving their treatment at Body & Sole Massage.
One victim told police an employee fondled her genitals multiple times when she and her fiance went to the business Feb. 15 for a couples massage. The employee, whose name is redacted from a police report, recoiled when she pushed his hand away, the victim said, then ended the massage 20 minutes early.
The victim told investigators “she was so nervous and scared after her massage that when she went to hand the cashier the gift certificate for [the] massage, she was shaking so badly she could not even pull the certificate out of her purse,” according to the report.
Another woman, who identified herself on social media as a former client, posted a scathing review last October, saying her visit involved inappropriate physical contact and left her in pain for days.
“He would sit on the table and lean over me, he even had his genitals rubbing on me,” she said, later adding that he slapped her buttocks.
Reached by phone Monday afternoon, an employee declined to comment on the allegations except to say the business is cooperating with the police investigation.
Police are now getting the word out about the activity in the hopes of finding any additional people who may have been victimized at the parlor.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-TIPS.
