Seems I have read on numerous occasions the interest to open a bar/strip club/massage parlor etc. in the San Jose area.
There was also an interest in re-opening the old Park Hotel and an desire to bring back the good old days.
I don't know if these were good ideas or not but I do know the renovated Park Hotel and its bar/restaurant are a flop.
This is where an entrepreneurial type may make a offer in renting out the bar and giving the current owners the carrot of many short term room rentals
If they (the current Park Hotel group) have the proper licenses the opportunity seems ripe for a sharp guy/gal to go in there and lease the place cheap for a trial period with options to renew and try to offer another opportunity for gringos and most importantly ticos a place to play.
Keep in mind some of the best or better and more affordable bars/MP's, strip clubs have been operating for 15 or 20 years...they did so because of the tico cliental, not the new gringos.
They have been opened sporadically since last fall but never have been able to draw enough business to stay afloat. The space is great and most of the rooms have been renovated
Keep me posted on YOUR opening date
