This hobby is just like a market. Just like any other market the price of the goods and services are driven by the supply and demand. In this hobby the supply is determined by quantity or the number of the SPs available in Calgary. The demand is driven by the clients.
The demand can be assumed to be relatively constant on average. This is the number of clients available in Calgary based on the size of the population. As an example, not a real figure or calculated or statistical figure, lets assume 1% of the entire population of Calgary over 18 enjoys this hobby. The 2025 population of Calgary is estimated at 1.65 million people. So 1% of that is 16,500. Calgary on average has been growing at the rate of 2% per year. So the demand increases by 2% every year. Assuming the total number clients in 2025 to be 16,500 then that increases by 330 people. Now we see how the demand is relatively constant. An increase in demand by 2% does not make a significant impact on the demand curve to justify a price adjustment of more than 2%.
However this is not a perfect market. Clients can thought of as consumers, consuming the services provided. Consumer behaviour can be influenced by the client himself, and the service providers, impacting the demand curve and introducing bias.
The client influences his own behaviour by making certain choices. To some of us this is just a hobby, something we do for fun and enjoyment. As such we set aside a budget for it, X amount of dollars per month. Once a budget is set then we determine how many time we wish to enjoy this hobby in a month. Depending on our budget we also determine how much we are willing to spend per visit. To some this hobby is not a hobby, it is a need and an outlet. This is where the erratic behaviour comes in. Some spend any amount to get what they need. Sex is a drug and is just as addictive if not more.
On the other hand consumer behaviour can also be influenced by the service providers. Here service provider does not necessarily refer to the ladies but to the "net work". Those who recruit the ladies, send them to different AMPs, to different cities, etc, etc. Such a service provider is presumed to be intelligent. They actually pay attention. They ask themselves a few questions on how we make purchase decisions and what are the underlying factors that influence such decisions. They ask:
- Who is the consumer? most common factors are age and ethnicity.
- What does the consumer buy? Massage and HJ, massage and BJ, massage and FS, etc, etc
- Why is the consumer buying? Another words why do we go for a massage with HE, also why do we go to see an escort as oppose to an AMP or a Kijiji ad. etc?
- When does the consumer buy? Time of day, time of week and time of year.
- Where do they buy it? LL, Kijiji, CAF, Massage planet classifieds, etc, etc
- How do they buy? Cash or credit. Pay what is asked or negotiate or just throw cash around
- Who is involved? That is factors that can help manage the source of our information. In particular forums, like here (Massage Planet) or CAF
In this hobby some service providers do not necessarily react in a rational way. They attempt to take advantage. Other service providers react more rationally. This imho is the biggest factor: Who it is we are dealing with and how is it we are behaving. So the market price for the most part is determined by who it is we are dealing with and how is it we are behaving. This is more less the only variable that can explain the the significant differences between places like Calgary and Edmonton. Both cities have similar population sizes (Edmonton 1.2 million vs Calgary 1.6 million) and are in the same province of the country. Edmonton appears to enjoy lower prices, and better quality of service as well as better service providers compared to Calgary. One can not compare Calgary to Vancouver or Toronto or lager metropolitan areas as the market there is significantly different. That's like comparing apples to oranges.
Lastly consumer behaviour also drives the supply curve in a very similar way as service providers decided where to go and what to charge considering the above questions. This impacts not just the number of service providers (ladies) but the quality as well (the "quality" of the ladies being things we look for in our ladies and our encounters)
A word of caution as a side note: We need to be careful of and aware of who it is we are talking to!
