Can I mix cream and lotion?

Hey guys, quick question!

I am a new therapist and at my work we have lotion, gel, and cream supplied. The lotion and gel are convenient because they have a pump and the cream is in a roll and the therapists that use it put it on their forearms or some other way of working with it. It seems messy to me and I don't want to part with the pump. I find the lotion to be too thin so I mix it about 60/40 with the gel. I am happy with this mix but I keep hearing how great cream is. It seems way too thick to put in my dispenser so I am wondering if it is possible to maybe mix it with gel/lotion?

Yes, I do a lot of deep tissue work and find lotion too slippery and a creme pump bottle is to bulky at my side. For me, I prefer to have my creme/lotion at my side and not have to handle too much stuff that needs to be wiped down or cleaned after every client. I mix 50/50 creme and lotion to get the right texture that I like to use and put it into the 8 oz pump bottles with no problems!

From your description, it sounds as if your main problem isn't the product, but the way you store it during use. We use a great organic cream in squeeze tubes. The tubes are held in holsters/aprons while we work, so we can get a bit more as needed. We don't need to use pumps or smear it on our forearms. Some of my clients have been surprised by the fact that I can continue working with one hand while getting more cream with the other, without making noise or interrupting the flow of the session.

And I NEVER have to mix anything. :grin:

At our school they stored the cream in those little condiment cups...they did this to control the amount the students would use.
I would take two for each massage - just in case I ran out.
They are so light and little you can set them anywhere.
My holster has both a cream and lotion holder and I would set the little condiment cup inside the bigger cup( the cream holder).

I don't care for the consistency of cream either - it always feels too greasy to me.
And lotion doesn't keep a nice glide for very long.
Good idea to mix them.

I'm not Jason, but I'd like to suggest you try the cream by Sacred Earth Botanicals. Sacred Earth Botanicals Cream I've used this for several years and absolutely love it! Here is their ingredient list:

Purified Water, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Organic Sunflower Oil, Octyl Palmitate, Emulsifying Wax N.F., Vegetable Glycerin, Organic Lavender Extract, Organic Chamomile Extract, Organic Calendula Extract, Organic Arnica Extract, Organic White Tea Extract, Sodium Carbomer, Organic Hemp Oil, Tocopherols, Phenoxyethanol, Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin


What is NOT included is:
Parabens, Animal Products, Dimethicone, Propylene Glycol, TEA (Triethanolamine) or Ureas

A little goes a long way and you rarely ever have to reapply.

I also use Sacred Earth b/c of their ingredient list. However, the creme is too thick to pump from an 8oz bottle but that's the brand that I mix with lotion. Of course, if you want to have a pump creme jar at your side, you can do that.

I like to mix creams and lotions also, kind of like different strokes for different folks,, :
Especially now, that it's hot and mostly humid, the lotion added really helps the massage lubricant stay light and cool on the client's skin.

You'll just have to run a test. I don't think there is a way for us to know the answer to that question.
