Chinese Schools for foreigners?

You do not need any qualifications or pass any tests to get into the mainland universities to study Chinese.

Do these universities require you to pass a chinese test to get in (read about it, forgot what it is called)? I only know enough Chinese to get through one semester of Beginning Chinese, play drinking games, and order dim sum. No way I could pass a test.

By the way, for anybody interested, there was a chinese school called Manda or something , that so far seems like the cheapest, if the universities don't go through.

I would suggest learning at one of the universities in Beijing or Shanghai. They all offer courses for foreigners. Lots of sexy young Korean and Japanese chicks go to learn Chinese there!!!

I spent a year in Fudan university in Shanghai. Not expensive! tuition was around US$1000 for 5 month course.

Hey buds,

I might have an opportunity to take a pretty good job in Guanzhou next year assuming I can do one monumental thing: learn Chinese by next year. Given the short amount of time, I ma thinking a full immersion language school in China is the way to go. I have done some searching on the internet, and it seems like al the language schools are in Beijing and Shanghai. More disturbingly, they seem to run a couple THOUSAND US $ per month!

Anybody have any better suggestions for me? Considering how much the average China citizen makes a month, I find it hard to believe that $6-7000 a month for a school is the cheapest option available.

Anybody have any experience?
