Coming down in August with 5 other friends for the first time. We are actually planning on doing some real deep sea fishing among other things. Is it a good place to fish, and more importantly will there be people to "be" with, or will it be slim pickins this time of year. We are planning on staying at the Hotel Chacol or the condos at the Chacol. Is this a good idea, since this is our first trip any suggestions are surely welcome. Thanks

The fishing for pink snapper is good all year around in San Jose.

Plenty of pink snapper available in August. Can easily hook up to your daily limit. August 15 is Mothers Day a major holiday for Ticos but should not greatly inconvenience you.

As for deep sea fishing you might want to PM Mucho Gusto our resident fishing expert. I am sure he can fill you in on what to to expect in the various fishing areas. Enjoy.

My advice.. If you want to come to fish ... then do it line up the boat .and spend a day or two in San Jose in transit
If you want to get laid say in San Jose ... and take an over night sportfishing trip
The time of year does not matter in San Jose
That does not hold true to what is getting hook on the coasts
Tico Times has a fishing report ..???

There are about 15 to 20 girls at Whackys and next door trying to infiltrate the dead pecker club here in Quepos. I bet they could work you right in or be your bait girl.

I have never seen so many at the 2 places. Three or four doable but not where I am staying.

I wish we could stay in San Jose but we are only coming for 3 days and most of the people coming want to actually fish during the day and then go out at night. Anyone know what the Hotel Chacol has to offer as far as the ticas on the premises or will we have to venture out to the bars?

We were in Quepos for 5 days in January. Wandas had some nasty girls there. We were told that we were too early in the evening but I find that hard to believe. If you go there plan on eating at The Gran Escape great food, guacamole was off the hook, shashimi tuna..... perfect
