Do police need a warrant to read chat logs etc on fbook?

Im being accused of insighting someone to post a negative comment on my dads businesses facebook page, thus making them lose a couple of customers. My friend also went on to post a couple of other messages stating for my dad to calm down and stop being immature. Now apparently hes called the police and the police have read our chat logs on facebook, he has no proof however and this only happened late last night, wouldnt they need a warrant to do that / is it possible to do it that quickly...
Also if he has actually contacted the police, could I get in trouble for this? Even though I have screenshots saying dont do it. Im 15 and in the UK

No need for a warrant, Facebook is a PUBLIC social network anyone who wants to read it can without any kind of warrant. However i do think it is possible to delete any comments made on someone Else'spost, but if the person has already read it the damage has already been done, all you can do is delete it from anyone reading it in the future. I will tell you what i tell my son, be VERY careful what you post on facebook it might come back to haunt you, and NEVER post anything thats suppose to be private or family related, do that face to face or over the phone. as there will be no record of it after the fact.

Once you put something on the internet (not just facebook) anyone can read it. Cops can read this answer I am writing right now. But I don't care.

If you posted it on the internet, you should know that anyone can read it. Your neighbor, the perverts, cops, your mother, ect

If it's public, it's public, no need for a warrant.

If this person you know presented the chat logs to the police, they can do that too.
