East Indians

I have a link on my site called the Bombay Ballet which lists many of the local EIMPAs. I'm not sure if any of them are actually from India though.

The reason I mention this is that a local MPA told me she does not like being called EI as she is from Guyana and guys come in hoping to find a pure Indian girl which she is not

Honestly do guys actually expect to find a real Japanese or Indian MPA.
They are so very rare - its rather futile

Is there any true Japanese or Indian MPAs working at the moment?

I believe Asha at HFH is true Indian. I don't know of any true Japanese.

i dont really see how, what country someone was born in makes them any less a part of the community of their heritage.....if guys really want to find someone that meets those requirements then they should go to the source itself....but i dont see how there would be a difference.....are they expecting to find someone who has green blood?

revolver is correct in pointing out that Asha is originally from India, her first language being Punjabi.

A different MPA asked me nicely not to make reference to her nationality for privacy reasons, so in version 3 of the Indian compilation, I actually stopped distinguishing between East and West Indian, and refer to all as South Asian.

IE> those who's ancestors originated in the Indian sub-continent, in what is now India, Pakistan, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka

Without starting the whole East vs West Indian debate, this would "generally" include for instance Trini, Guyanese, Ugandan, South African etc. Indians because of British Colonialization. Going back to the 19th century, her ancestors would have been uprooted from the Indian sub-continent.

Also, one starts to slice the cake into thinner and thinner slices, coz if a girl's parents are from India, but the girl was born here and her first language is English, is she "true" Indian ?

Personally, I don't care where the MPA is from as long as she has the "look", a great personality and treats me nicely

I have always taken the term "East Indian" (as used here) as descriptive of the girl's ancestry as opposed to what country is filled in on her birth certificate. It gives me a broad idea of what to expect about how she looks. If she has that East Indian "look" then I could not care less whether she was born in Bombay or Brampton.

"West Indians" are a fictitious group created by "South Asians" who ventured out to the West in search of a better life. Essentially, "South Asian" people from Guyana and Trinidad are the main groups who call themselves "West Indians".

The reason that they might call themselves that is because these groups mixed with different cultures (Africans, British, Portugese etc) in the west, and the result is that this culture is partially west and partially east. Therefore to distinguish themselves, they have taken to call themselves "West Indians"

Another reason might be that when they came here, the term "East Indian" had a stigma. They probably wanted to differentiate themselves from the
"Pakis and towel heads". I have heard "West Indians" call "East Indians" PAKIs..

The "West Indians" are only 3 or 4 generations in the West Indies and their ancestors were from mostly from India.

whoa buddy, i'm trying not to take what you wrote personal...but it definately is makeing me realize how much ignorance and lack of knowledge people have. The west indies are made of guyana/trinidad etc.. and were colonies by the british and other european countries which took slaves from India and Africa there. They did not go there for a better life whatsoever, and are definately not having a better life there than India. Also most west indians are very insecure and when they come to North America, they have their own caribbean culture which has been developed in recent times with a very few similarities in culture to Indians from India and try to deny their roots since North American culture was once very rascist towards Indian culture. They feel since they have a newly developed culture, they can be identified as totally a different ethnicity and to feel more secure and fit in with western culture they like to criticize indian culture also.

Supes... please don't take any offense as none was meant. After reading your reply, it seems that you are saying the exact thing that I said.

Just a couple of things:
1) There is no "Ethnic" group called West Indians... The Indians in Guyana and Trinidad etc... are from India. Their race is East Indian or South Asian.

2) The Indians that went to Guyana were "indentured servants" as opposed
to slaves, and most chose to go to Guyana.

I did not mean to imply that the West Indians are "better or worse" than East Indians, just that they see themselves differently.

My reference to "Pakis and Towel Heads" was sarcasm, in that West Indians were trying to distinguish themselves from other Indians hoping to be accepted... in so doing they were discriminating against the East Indians. I was disappointed in my West Indian friends when they did such things.
