Typically we use the "Mind Therapies" forum for EFT, but it is sometimes referred to as "Psychological Acupuncture without the needles" so I guess this forum is just as good.
I came across EFT a little by accident as I was asked if I'd like to do the course by a friend and I didn't really know anything about it, but I thought it would add to my toolbox of therapies and she was very persuasive. Before doing the course, we were asked to read the free downloadable manual from www.emofree.com so that we could concentrate on the more advanced techniques of using EFT on the course rather than spending time learning the basics. I downloaded the manual and thought "what on earth is this? tapping with my fingers on my body whilst saying things? What have I let myself in for?"
As it turned out, I went on the course and got rid of my spider phobia with little effort whatsoever. Everyone on the course found it amazing, even the friend who works in the NHS and wasn't really "into" complementary therapies. She now recommends it to many of her patients.
Since the course I've used it with many clients and found it works wonders, and have also learnt Freeway-CER which is similar in some respects but doesn't require trying to find the root cause of the issue like EFT does, hence can resolve issues more swiftly.
As for anyone not seeing a course through because they thought it was "rubbish" they either a) clearly haven't done any research into how effective it is, how many people are finding benefit from it and how it can work with other therapies or b) the teacher was not very good at explaining the principles behind how it works or c) they have some other hang-up or belief system that prevents them from viewing new things with an open mind.
I thought it was weird to start with but then I saw it working and that was all I needed to convince me.
