Elements of Eden has recently opened, bringing various health and wellness services to Glencoe.
Gizelle Erickson, who has more than 20 years in the wellness and massage industry, recently opened a spa and massage center in downtown Glencoe. Elements of Eden offers a range of services, including massage therapy, full-body spa treatments, nutrition and wellness coaching, and pre-postnatal services.
Erickson, a certified massage therapist through the Everest Institute, said her massage technique blends myofascial release with deep-tissue massage
โ[It] allows me to get into a muscle tissue in a more gentle way, so your muscles are inviting me in rather than fighting against me,โ Erickson said. โAnd Iโm able to get in really deep and really accomplish some good things like added circulation and hopefully stretching out some of those tendons and ligaments that might be holding people tight.โ
Elements of Eden offers spa wraps, body scrubs, and nutritional coaching in addition to massage therapy.
Spa treatments include body wraps made with clay, seaweed, or a seasonal offering. Erikson said they feel like being wrapped in a warm cocoon for the winter. She also offers body scrubs, which she said are great for the wintertime, especially for those who have dry skin.
โThis helps to really get some deep moisture in there and get nice fresh layers of skin all over your body,โ she said. โitโs wonderful.โ
Erikson, who is certified in nutrition and healthy living, and plant-based medicine through Cornell University, said she does some nutrition classes and coaching for those who want someone to encourage them to eat healthy.
โI donโt follow any fads or any trendy diets,โ she said. โItโs all about your body and how it uses the nutrition that you put in it.โ
Erickson is also a Reiki master for those who are interested in more holistic services.
Elements of Eden has been Ericksonโs business name since 2006. Sheโs operated in Hawkins, Plymouth, and Edina but recently moved to Glencoe to be closer to her grandchildren.
โI love the community of Glencoe,โ she said. โI love the friendliness. Like every store I step into, everybodyโs just so kind and welcoming, and it just feels like a very cozy little community.โ
Erikson said Elements of Eden opened earlier this week, and she saw her first client Monday.
โToday, I was thinking, oh, I just love this,โ she said after that first appointment.
She said people often arrive at her spa with unexplained aches and pains. During the massage, she lets her hands guide her to areas of tension, and by the end, her clients feel deeply relaxed, and their entire demeanor changes.
โI love that I can affect people, at least for a day, and have them have a good day and walk out of here feeling like theyโve been cared for,โ Erikson said.
Elements of Eden is located at 806 12th Street East. Itโs near the corner of 12th Street and Hennepin Avenue, across from the railroad tracks. Erikson said itโs in an office building with no signage telling people sheโs there.
Erickson is offering a 30% discount for first-time clients through a QR code, which will be included in this article. Services and pricing are listed on her website at elements-of-eden.com.
