Greenwich Ave. massage shop busted for prostitution: cops

GREENWICH — Two women are facing prostitution charges, and a male “customer” is also facing a charge of patronizing a prostitute, following a police investigation into the Green Health Massage shop on upper Greenwich Avenue.
Police said they had been receiving “complaints” that the massage shop was “conducting prostitution type activities,” according to the arrest report.
Police sent an undercover officer, as well as a “confidential informant,” to the premises and later followed up with arrests late last week. Authorities determined that the workers there were offering manual sexual services, as documented by the undercover officer, the police report stated.
Xue Mei Jiang, 41, of 78th Road, Flushing, Queens, N.Y.; and Yuhong Zeng, 50, of Robinson Street, Flushing, Queens, were charged with misdemeanor counts of prostitution. They were released without bail.
Also charged was Kashif Aqeel, 43, of 110th Ave., Parkland, Florida. He was also released without bail on a charge of patronizing a prostitution. Police said he “agreed to pay for a massage and to have sexual contact with the masseuse,” according to his arrest report.
The police also notified the town Board of Health.
The case is likely to be passed onto a regional task force on trafficking for review, said police Lt. John Slusarz. Trafficking is a criminal trade in which immigrants are coerced or forced into labor or sex at little or no pay. Slusarz said cases like this were examined by detectives “to see if there’s more to it.”
The massage shop was open Tuesday, and several employees said they were unaware of recent arrests. A note left with employees, requesting comment from management, was not returned.
Soft music plays at the shop, and a row of curtained vestibules are arrayed behind the reception area. A list of prices for massage services, beginning at $40, is placed in the entryway up a flight of stairs from Greenwich Avenue.
Town police made a prostitution bust at a “spa” on Mason Street in 2011, and police also made arrests at similar operations in Cos Cob and Old Greenwich in past years.
