Help! Chair issues - looking for replacement parts

Has anyone needed replacement screws or pieces for their massage chair?

Are they easily obtainable? Expensive?

What about on discontinued items?

Any other suggestions to remedy this until I get a part for it?

I'm in a bit of a bind because I purchased a massage chair (used) and the screw/knob that holds the chest pad in place is stripped. Unfortunately, the company that manufactured it changed hands and I don't know who to contact or where to look for parts. Also, since I'm not the original owner/purchaser, as I understand it the limited warranty no longer applies.

Any help would be appreciated!

Sometimes you can take stripped screws to a hardware store and ask for "this size". Those people are MAGIC and know how to find exactly what you want. And screws are cheap.

Yes, actually I had thought of that and is definitely one solution to try. I wasn't sure that I could do that considering how it's constructed but I'll give it a shot. I hope that will work. It does tick me off though that there is no number to get a hold of the manufacturer anymore though.

Maybe give us the name/brand and manufacturer of your chair too, and someone will have some info as to how to get parts. Also the name of the place that the company changed hands to.

I also had messaged one of the other board members here who said in another thread that he actually had one of these chairs but that was only yesterday and I've not heard back yet.

The chair is an EarthGear TravelPro. I got it for a good price on eBay and I hadn't really been doing much chair, so I thought I would get it and brush up. I called the customer service number located on the chair and it's disconnected. Supposedly from what I read, EarthGear changed to a company called Essence Therapeutic Innovations but there seems to be nowhere to contact them and their website doesn't work. I noticed a lot of EarthGear's products are being resold and are discontinued.

Rose of Sharon, I am glad you confirmed my idea. I ran to Lowe's and matched up the screw size in the hardware department and got a couple carriage screws for under 40 cents. They seem be working fine, albeit a little hard on the fingers to turn but I won't have to tighten them as tight since they're metal (the screw inside the original part was plastic).

I'm still concerned about the fact that there's no place to get a hold of customer service. I mean, it's not a HUGE deal because I'll probably get another chair eventually anyway, but what about in the mean time, or all the people who may have purchased tables from them and such? Believe me, if I find out any information, I'll post it up here for others!

Take those same screws back to Lowes and get knobs that will fit them.........your fingers will thank you.

YF: It's actually fine for now; thanks for the suggestion. I don't have to tighten it as much on account of the fact that the screw is metal now rather than plastic. Also, I don't know what kind of knob would fit on this thing... it's a pretty large headed carriage/machine screw. I know someone who might be able to help me figure out a knob for it though.
