How do I introduce my dog with a new puppy?

I'm going to get a labrador puppy and my dachshund doesn't like dogs (but he gets along with my other chihuahua dog) so how do I introduce them? I'm sure my chihuahua won't do anything.

let them have a bonding/play time

Begin by letting them smell the new dog on you.

Then have them meet on neutral turf--like a dog park or out on the sidewalk during a walk.

Then let the new dog into the house and let them work it out from there. It can take as long as a month before they start to tolerate each other, but eventually they will be spooning!

put one in a crate and get used to the smell first

take it slow. put your dachshund in your lap and allow the lab to come up to the dachshund. Make sure that you pay special attention to the dachshund so that he does not get too jealous. Once he figures out that the new dog is not leaving he will adapt. Be patient
