How do I introduce myself...?

How do I introduce myself to a guy that I kind of already know?

The story is, he's my second cousin's cousin (other side, no blood relation) and I've seen him several times in my life. We also apparently used to play when we were younger, though I do not remember. The last time I saw him I noticed him looking at me and I was told by someone close that he was "checking me out", though I'm not quite sure. We had no time to talk or anything due to the fact that I had to leave early and it was a formal event.

Anyways, if I ever see him in the party scene, should I approach him? Wait for him to come to me? I'm not sure what type of guy he is...whether or not he approaches girls and so forth. How should I do it if I do approach him? I don't want to sound like a complete creep, my mother mentions him a lot, she sees his parents occasionally. I have no clue whether or not he remembers me either especially since I used to wear glasses and my hair is completely different. I suppose it's not a big deal, but I've seemed to develop a crush!

It would be easier to talk to him if it was another family event, though I doubt it, since he attends university in another city!

You should talk to your cousin about it to get to know something about him and maybe ask him for his phone number or email to contact him and just talk.

If that's to upfront about it and you wish to not make it obvious then...

You should try to plan another family event and invite him wishing that he would come. When your there just go up to him and be friendly. Talk about yourself but make sure he says things aswell so he doesnt get bored. Then from there see if you can get a contact information from him and try to talk to him more. And after talking alot he might get to liking you too, then you guys could hang out more.

I think you should go for it! Easiest way would be through facebook or MSN. Otherwise I would wait until the next family get together. Then just go up to him, say hello and perhaps bring up the past (even if it's just "I didn't recognize you, didn't we used to play....."). Otherwise, I would set your sites on someone else and not focus on what you can't control.
