I get regular foot massages from a girl that is strictly legit. Her pressure suits me perfectly and my feet are in love with her.
I knew she had moved to a new foot massage place and I went there looking for her. She was glad to see me. I asked if she was available. She said she was and showed me a chair. Then she came back with another girl & asked if I wanted her to do the massage. I said I preferred her (my regular). A few minutes later the other girl came in and asked me if I wanted her. I looked confused and my regular girl said something to her in Chinese. They had a heated discussion in Chinese outside the area. My regular girl then came in and apologized then proceeded with the foot massage.
I now call for an appointment, I ask for her and set a time.
The last few times I've gone, she asked if another lady could do the massage. Since I came for her, I decline.
My question is one of cultural protocol (maybe). I understand the first time I walked in, I may have been considered a "walk in" and the customer of the next girl in line. However, the other times confuse me. My thoughts are that my regular girl is the owner or manager and wants to give the others some business. But I'm not sure and their English isn't good enough for an in-depth discussion.
I know they believe the customer is always right, but I don't want to cause any workplace rift or violate their customer assignment procedures.
Can anyone shed some light on what is happening? Many of you seem to be much more tuned in to Asian customs than I.
Thanks!
