Is there a rule against "chit-chat" in islam?

I read on this forum that there is. Could you please find me the sura and where exactly it says that?

And please I don't want anything other then that. I am just looking for the sura and where it says this, if there is one. If there isn't then fine.

I understand that. But can you post it so that I can read it myself? And then I can interpret it how I want and now how someone is telling me how it is suppose to be.

What is wrong with you people? I just asked a simple question. Why is it so hard to give an answer if you have it. I have the koran in front of me now. And to "Hope". In my opinion your comment is exactly what is the problem with islam. No one actually takes the time to read and think about what it says in the koran. They all just read it, without a thought, without giving a damn.

There was this guy on YA who posted some rules that he found strange. I want to read about it. That is it. I can't find what he was talking about so I wanted to see if any of you knew anything about it. I just want the suras, nothing else. I don't need your judgment, your advice or anything like that. Why is that so hard?
