Ivy Tech Community College is providing relaxing ways to ease the tension of a busy day. Its Healthy Essence massage clinic is open for the spring semester. Organized by Lynsey Saylor, the therapeutic massage instructor, Healthy Essence is in Room CC1783 on the Coliseum Campus, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd., and open to the public for scheduled appointments. Each massage therapist is an Ivy Tech student or employee. Students who choose to participate receive experience in a spalike environment with instructors on hand to answer questions and demonstrate certain massage techniques. Each student is required to complete a minimum of 100 hours of massage outside of classroom time per semester. Ivy Tech student Kristine Rawski has labeled this as a great learning atmosphere. "I feel like it's better for me as a student to have this opportunity," she said. Their available times are 12:30, 2 and 3:30 p.m. Mondays; 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1, 3 and 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays; and noon, 1:30, 3, 5, and 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The hour-long massages cost $25. However, if a client is a military member, older than 55, or an Ivy Tech student or employee, the cost is $20. Tips will not be accepted, but clients can donate to a charity based on the massage therapist's choice.
