KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A Kalamazoo massage therapist is facing 15 years in prison, charged with sexually assaulting multiple clients.
Newschannel 3 was in court as Daniel Armand Lockett faced a judge Tuesday.
Four women came forward to police over the last year, saying their massage therapist had groped them during their massages.
Lockett runs United Integrated Wellness and Fitness in Oshtemo Township.
He is now charged with five counts of criminal sexual conduct against four women he was being paid to massage.
Those women reported disturbing behavior during their massages, court documents show the women say that Lockett rubbed them in inappropriate places. One woman said he touched her private parts about 20 times.
Another woman told police that Lockett put hot stones, used for massage therapy, on her breasts and then started massaging them.
Court documents show that the victims felt intimidated and scared, and while massage therapy is a job that requires touching, the Sheriff’s Department says Lockett crossed the line.
“We find that sometimes the person charged with perpetrating a crime like this might feel like there’s a blurring that would be difficult to be able to point to, and we’d like to let them know you’re wrong,” said Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller, “and we will be able to point to those things if we feel there was a crossing of that line.”
The Sheriff’s Office says they are concerned there may be more victims out there. If you are one of them, you are urged to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office and speak with a detective.
Lockett was released on bond Tuesday, under the condition that he not perform any massage therapy or have any physical contact with clients.
He is due back in court for a hearing in three weeks.
