I somehow ended up at Lipstick with a group of friends yesterday. I heard the place was a rip off, but it couldn't be that bad, right? They had about 4 girls in the place, none of them particularly hot. We had a total of about 4 drinks, one with a lady. Total bill was around $70. What a joke! I paid for my own only and was out of there. Beware!

Lists of questionable Strip Clubs have been posted numerous times, but not everybody does his homework.

You nailed it Very true. And even a little spanish goes a long way, along with not spending your time in CR either drunk or hung over

And Tiles - you are correct, but read the comments on some of the (old) threads about dress - you have a certain mind set of some guys that says, basically, "Phuck it; I'm going to dress however I want" All that is fine (not really :roll: : :roll: ), as long as you are will to pay the consequences Orange outlined in his post.

I don't understand why some reject good advice given by those with true on the ground knowledge :shock: But there is no cure for stupid, I guess.

It ain't rocket science, just use common sense and common courtesy with people and you will do ok most anyplace you go! Strip clubs, well it is going to happen from time to time. Haven't been in any here in a while, but if I do I will pay for each drink and not pull out plastic.

I been in the place maybe 5 times .....and have found some very hot girls you wont see in other places ....but those ashole servers .....they try the hard sell as soon as you enter ....and pushing the girls drinks ....we have been able to enter every time with out paying the cover charge ......

You won't necessarily blend in and be confused with Ticos. BUT, there are definitely gringos living here that blend into the city like they belong. And there are some that look so out of place and have a target on their back. I strive for being invisible on the streets.

There is a difference between blending in like you know what is going on and being delusional and assuming that how you dress will somehow make you appear like a local. I know the point you are trying to make and I respect it because you live there and I can't really put it into words what you mean. Yet, so many guys that show up and think that by dressing "local" they will seamlessly blend into the background and being treated like a local is just delusional. This is true for most any country you visit. A local can spot a non-local a mile away so while you should respect the local customs, don't think that you are ever going to blend.
