One of the MP owners posted recently that they would sue massageplanet.net if they didn't stop posts of any kind about their Spa. The reason given was that too much detail would create By-Law problems (my words but I think that sums it up). I don't doubt their sincerety about that but..........at the same time the MP owner has their own competing Review Board where they can edit as they see fit. Interesting.

It seems to me that this is the silly season. Any litigation would result in the closure of many Spa's. This really would end up as a "the Scorpion and the Frog" scenario. We would all lose. The only winners would be the the media, politicians and the lawyers. The media would love to run a story about a Massage Parlour suing an Internet Adult Review Board while quoting anonymous "insiders" providing juicy information about what "really" goes on. The details would probably only apply to a few places but they all would be painted with the same brush. The only thing left to argue about would be who was the Scorpion and who was the Frog. The point is that we are all in this together and need each other.

Maybe if we all agree to post accurate information, within the posting guidlines, this can be resolved. Details could be expanded in PM's and emails. Lets not let our ego's put us in a situation where we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

I've venture onto that other new board a few times and can't believe the attitude there. It seems obvious to me that the moderator could care less if MP's were shut down, in fact he has as much as said that if MP's were shut down it might bring the prices for SP's down (his stated goal) by flooding the market with unemployed MPA's (a bit of a stretch if you ask me). But it seems some of the more vocal posters JUST DON'T GET IT. They don't understand that if you talk about MP's giving FS or BJ's that it will likely mean the end of that in short order. "We can say whatever we want, this isn't massageplanet.net!" seems to be the motto.

I wanted to through in my 2 cents worth to aid Paul/IT, Sheik and other sensible people but can't seem to get activated to post, and they've ignored my requests for help (either a slight against a massageplanet.net member or just very poor customer service). They'd likely just say I was a newbie, or better yet that I was Paul/IT using a different handle. That ED site is trouble to hobbiests.

I wish massageplanet.net would get back to being a site that was focused on reviews. I understand the by-law issue is restricting what we can say, but reviews can still be effective.

That statement is very straight forward. As far as my remark goes about competing boards, I would like to think that it's a coincidence but MBB would gain if massageplanet.net did not post about this Spa. This makes the above quote from her post suspicious to me of possibly having more than one motive.

Paul - actually I think positive reviews number closer to 95% - other than the controversial threads about.......but that's not the real point.

She did threaten to sue massageplanet.net, she doesn't advertise on massageplanet.net, she does have her own board and she is a friend of yours. Please quit trying to deflect all of this.

V12....very well written thread. I think that you have sized up the situation rather well and your facts are fairly accurate.

From a business point of view, if you are the sole provider of information on a very popular mp, and the only way to access information is to go to your website (which I presume is another business that makes money for you) then you have a captured audience.

Let's spell it out for massageplanet.netites who still don't get it, or try to deflect from reality (I believe that this is called a spin).

Most people do not really like to shop at loblaws for their milk and their bread at Dominion. So you go to one place or the other. If you have to go to Loblaws because it is the only place you can get HFH milk, then you do all your shopping there. Hence, you have a captured audience.

Now Dominion can either do something about it, or allow it to happen. massageplanet.net you are Dominion, they are Loblaws it's your call...

The only time an establishment could successfully sue a message board is if the administrators of the site had persistently refused to remove posts that are damaging to the establishment's interests.

Sadly this (IMO) is not true at all. A couple recent write ups in The Sun give accounts about Regent Park residents complaining about crack dealing right outside their door... all hours of the day and night. And a very obvious crack house right next door to them.They even took video! No offenese to LE on this one... (because I understand their lack of manpower and tools etc ) but LE did little to nothing about it.



Sadly this is also ture... (IMO) A really messed up situation don't you think?

Instead of complaining here though I think we should be complaining to our MPs etc.. (and I don't mean massage palours)... not that it would do any good.

We all agree that explicit details are not appropriate for mp reviews...Only an idiot would not see it that way... Perhaps you think I am an idiot ...that's ok, but I understand why we need to keep the reviews within certain guidelines.

I have refrained from posting reviews simply because I did not understand the the guidelines well, did not want to offend and was not comfortable with reviewing my sexual act with the general public.

I would not want to have the ladies review me and my hairy ass or sweaty feet, so I do not feel comfortable doing it to them. However, there are alot of guys who do not want to understand this or they have no class. They will continue to post, we just have to deal with it as best we can. The right to free speech does have it's drawbacks when you are dealing with idiots...

The other alternative complete censorship (what you and your friends are trying to do) is even more damaging. You want to dictate the flow of information (complete censorship).

They couldn't do it even then, Fred. There's no law against saying things that are damaging to someone else's interests unless the things being said are defamatory (libel or slander), and even then, the truth of the statement is an absolute defence. Successful litigation in these circumstances is just not possible. I'm not saying there weren't reasons for compliance with the request, but concern about litigation needn't be one of them.

As for the conspiracy theories, while they're entertaining, I don't buy them. Once upon a time, Kayla needed the publicity from reviews on the boards. Since then, she has built a great spa with wonderful attendants who are consistently busy. The municipalities are more problematic than they used to be, and the publicity, while it might increase business, seems to be creating more problems than it is worth. It's a simple cost-benefit analysis, not a plot, although the theory is creative.

Paranoid...maybe a little...but the facts are the facts....Paul repeat this "i know I can, be all I want to be, if I work hard enough, i'll be where I want to be..."

We do agree that explicit details of illegal activities at mp's need to be deleted. We agree that personal attacks on mps should be deleted, we agree that too much details in a review raises the expectation of the reader. Combine this with the readers imagination kicking into place, and you have the makings of a problem.

Paul it's not a paranoid conclusion... I would think that a lot of massageplanet.netites see it that way. The issue at hand is our right to post specifically regarding HFH and someone trying to take that away.

Reply if you wish, I have no further interest in debating with someone who ignores the facts and tries to deflect from the main point time and time again.

I can see them in court now. I am sueing massageplanet.net because they are posting false reviews about my MP. Yes yes Mr Judge, the reviews are made by patrons of my business, but trust me it is a conspiracy of lies. None of my employees ever do the things they say.

massageplanet.net is an open forum of opinion. Personally, and I am not a lawyer, but a lawsuit would be a joke and only open up the MP to an investigation. I think the MP in question would end up paying huge legal bills for both parties, I mean how easy would it be to prove that the MP is the one providing a false claim.

Just my opinion.

anon.penet.fi - Cdn laws can be circumvented if the internet operation is in another country. An example is the gambling sites that set up offshore in countries that allow it - Costa Rica etc. They are untouchable. If massageplanet.net was setup in California then I believe the MP would have to proceed in that State - very difficult.

That is all I wanted in my original post of this thread. If things remain that way, without further threats of litigation, then I would be pleased - and hopefully others would be too.

IMO opinion the moderators should be free to delete the explicit posts. Those who refuse to comply should be removed from the board. We (Clients/MP's/MPA's) share a mutually beneficial relationship. Anyone seeking to destroy that should be treated as persona non grata.
