A local massage therapist faces charges after allegedly assaulting two female clients at the Massage Envy in Bend.Deschutes County District Attorney John Hummel announced Thursday that his office charged Christopher Rosario, 37, with criminal counts including sexual abuse, unlawful sexual penetration and sodomy. The alleged abuse occurred on or about Oct. 4 and Sunday, March 20, court records show.Hummel said Thursday that his office had received the first womanโs report soon after the alleged assault in early October and had been actively investigating the matter when the second report was made earlier this week.A 58-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted Sunday by Rosario, according to a search warrant affidavit filed in Deschutes County Circuit Court by Bend Police Detective Christopher Morin. The Bulletin does not identify victims of sexual assault or abuse. In the affidavit, which is a request for a judge to allow a search of a defendant or his property, Morin included the report of another Bend Police officer who responded to the womanโs report of assault. The alleged victim reported she had six massage sessions at the Massage Envy on U.S. Highway 97. The first two were with another masseuse. The massage on Sunday was her fourth with Rosario.โAfter having her back and neck massaged, he started massaging her โglutes,โ which was something he never did in the previous massages,โ the report inserted into the affidavit states. Then, according to the report, Rosario massaged the womanโs legs and flipped her onto her back. He placed a dry towel on her face, started massaging her breasts, and penetrated her vagina with his fingers. He then forced her to have oral sex with him.The woman described feeling โnumb and frozenโ during the alleged assault.โ(The woman) stated she wanted to scrub every inch of her body because she felt disgusted,โ the report states. The police arrested Rosario that day.The case will soon go before a grand jury. Rosario is being held at the Deschutes County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.According to the Oregon Board of Massage Therapists, Rosario is a licensed massage therapist who was initially licensed May 22, 2015. His electronic record showed no discipline on the license Thursday.Rosarioโs attorney, Timothy Elliott, could not be reached for comment Thursday.Massage Envy has more than 1,000 franchised locations nationally. The Scottsdale, Arizona, companyโs media relations department could not be reached for comment Thursday.โThe accounts shared by Rosarioโs victims of the abuse he inflicted upon them are chilling,โ said Hummel in a statement Thursday. โThey went to him to receive physical care. Instead they received inhumane abuse. If these allegations are proven in a court of law I will recommend a significant penalty.โโ Reporter: 541-383-0376,cwithycombe@bendbulletin.com
