Police conducted a raid at a massage parlour in the Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday night, arresting nine individuals, including five women. The parlour was located in the city center of Patel Nagar, under the University Police Station's jurisdiction, Police said on Monday.
The arrested women were from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. Among the men detained were two customers, the parlour's operator, and a manager.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dharamveer Singh told news agency ANI, "Several types of massage parlours were being operated in the University Police Station area and a complaint regarding human trafficking was received following which a raid was conducted on Sunday. The operation was carried out by the Women Police Station in charge, Additional SP, and the Crime Branch and recovered significant evidence from the spot, proving human trafficking and immoral trafficking."
Massage Parlour Has Been Shut Down
The officer added that an FIR was registered at Mahila police station based on the evidence. And, nine individuals -five women and four men, including the massage parlour's operator and the manager were arrested.
He stated that the cops would continue their crackdown on such activities in the city and keep surveillance over the massage parlour operating in the area. "The arrested women belong to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi. Similarly, the arrested men were also having interstate connections. The police further take remands of the accused and would conduct further interrogation to gather more evidence into the matter," SSP Singh said.
The massage parlour has been shut down, and the police are reviewing the CCTV footage from the premises. Additionally, they plan to inspect similar parlours in other cities in collaboration with the administration's joint team and take appropriate action based on any irregularities found, he said.
