WEST HAVEN, CT — A Stamford man is accused of robbing a massage parlor and sexually assaulting a worker over the summer in West Haven, according to police.
Police received a 911 call on Aug. 18 regarding an armed robbery at a massage parlor in West Haven.
The victim told West Haven detectives that she was at the parlor that evening by herself when the doorbell rang.
“She went to the door to tell the person ringing the bell that they were not open,” police wrote in a news release. “When she opened the door, the suspect pushed his way into the parlor and ushered her back inside. The suspect then bound the victim’s hands and used a pair of scissors to threaten the victim.”
During the robbery, police said two cell phones and $600 cash were stolen.
The victim also told police that she was sexually assaulted by the suspect before he left.
During the investigation, police said an independent witness saw a man matching the suspect’s description, and said they drove off in a gray sedan with what appeared to be New York registration plates.
Police said an extensive investigation followed over the next several months, and with the help of federal, state, and local law enforcement, the suspect was identified as 42-year-old Terrell Meynard.
“This information assisted three other Connecticut towns who had massage parlor robberies,” police wrote. “These other towns identified Terrell Meynard as their main suspect.”
Meynard was arrested by West Haven police on Dec. 19 and charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree larceny, and first-degree unlawful restraint. He was being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond with a court date of Feb. 11, according to state judicial records.
