Massage Parlors and Bars in Puntarenas

I'm thinking of staying in Puntarenas for a few days at the end of August. I'm planning on staying at the Tioga Hotel and they've informed that there's no problem bringing guests to the room.

Anyone aware of any massage parlors and/or bars to meet chicas at. I've heard there's chicas there, but don't know where to go. I'm sure I can figure it out once I get there, however it would be nice to hear from anyone who has had some experience's in Puntarenas to save me a some time in figuring it out.

It's off the beaten path, good seafood, and a change of pace from San Jose. Also, there will probably be some hidden gems to find.

Its off the beaten path and a change of pace from SJ alright, but so are many other places in CR. Do you go to Harlem when you visit NY because it gets fewer tourists. Actually the city that Puntarenas gets most often compared to is Newark, NJ (not just because they're both ports but because of the pollution), but you don't see too many people going to Newark to get away either.

Seafood? There are nearly 1300kms of coastline in CR and no place in CR is more than a couple of hours drive from the ocean, so good seafood can be had anywhere. Actually, I'd probably be wary of anything caught in the waters near Puntarenas. It is a dirty smelly port city not a quaint fishing village. The waters near it are not recommended for swimming due to the untreated sewage that gets pumped into the bay and the bilge release from the ships.

There are a small handful of bars that MIGHT have what you are looking for. I've seen a place called Good Fortune and another called Capt. Morenos mentioned and rates of 10K for a half hour. So better rates can be found in SJ along with a far larger selection. Could you find a hidden gem there? I suppose its possible, but where are you going to turn when your short search turns up empty? Are you then going to simply content yourself enjoying the "scenic" ambiance of the place?

Had a great time there on the "failed" gambling weekend. Great restaurants and great ladies. There are several bars with girls in the $30 range. At night the hang at a Karaoke bar on the beach ave. that also has good food. I am sorry that I can not remember the names.
It is a great town and I will return.

Bad Rap

Puntarenas always seems to get a bad rap. It is not as Bad as everyone makes it out to be. Sure its not the Del Rey but with the costs and predictable routine from the girls its nice to have a change of pace.

There are three chica bars downtown (that I know of) within walking distance from each other and in a safe area.

Dreaddogcr,I am sure you are right on Puntarenas.I have yet to visit there but am sure I will in time.Limon gets the same kind of bad rap except much worse.I went there to see for myself and really liked the place and had a great time.So I am sure Puntareans could be fun.Will definitely check it out heard about the three bars long time ago form a freind.rbc100

Thanks for all the input so far from everyone. I'l be staying in San Jose for a few days before I go down so it will definately be a change of pace.

If anyone has any comments about the Hotel Tioga that would be appreciated as well.

RBC,,, So you have info on Limon... I tripped through once during the day and it seemed like it might be ok.... I have often thought of going back but havn't gotten around to it.
