Massage Table Envy

I have always had older cars and never felt like I was missing anything. My table is 6 years old and I want a new one even though mine is perfectly functional. It's 28" and I would prefer 30-32" but I do have attachable armrests. Really, though, it is a fine table. So, anyone tell me why I want a new one? A new Oakworks or Pisces isn't going to make me massage any better and my table really is just fine.

Any insight? Anyone else feel the same one?

Oh, can I relate! :

If I had the money, I am quite sure I could convince myself to buy a nifty new lightweight outcall table. You know, the aluminum one with the easy-to-adjust legs?

I only do one outcall a month! so its not like I need it.

I believe tools are important. The right tools for the type of work you do make your job that much easier.

Also, there is client comfort to consider. Is there something out there that will make your client more comfortable and that you will be compatable with in the way you move and work?

If so, and your pocket book says you can afford it, then I thin it is DEFINITELY something to look into!


Let's talk cars for a sec. If you were driving 3 hours commute per day.... and you could afford it, it would make sense to have something substantial, up to date, comfortable, quiet and mechanically stable. It would just make the drive that much less stressful. If you were in a very hot region of the country.... an A/C would be in order. If you were in a cold area.... maybe one of those little plugs on your engine. The right tools can be a wonderful thing! Think about it!

I grew up with used cars, used clothes, used everything. There's something to be said for treating yourself, even if it isn't essential that you have it. It's good for self-esteem to be able to treat yourself nicely once in a while as a reward for the hard work you do.

Obviously, you don't want to get yourself in a jam financially, but other than that, I say go for it and enjoy!

BTW, I have an Oakworks table that I bought brand new from the school when I started...it was slightly defective; there's a stain on the surface that won't come out, so I got some money off (you can see I wrestle with the "brand new in perfect condition" issue frequently). It's an awesome table though; 30" wide, but without arm rests. I put a table warmer on it and have ony had positive feedback.

I just recently battled with this. My table from school was getting close to 9 years old. It worked great aside from the legs seemed less sturdy and wobbly. I was afraid that something would happen if a client rolled over too fast. My face cradles "teeth" were stripped too. Minor things - but I didn't like it.

I had always wanted a table with an electric lift and tilt. I talked it over with my hubbie and he was the one who finally convinced me to buy one. "It is an investment into your business" "It is better for you to work with too". So I did. I opted to save some money and not get the electric tilt, just manual, but I love having the electric lift. Well worth the investment.

Now I don't have to worry about my table not being sturdy enough or my face cradle falling with a clients head in it! The tilt works great for my prenatal clients and I couldn't live without the lift now!
It was also a boost for me to know that I had made it long enough to buy myself a nice table.

Go for it - If you can afford to do it - Go for it!

What brand and model did you choose? I am in the market for a new table. I own an earthlite stationary model. It's very sturdy and comfortable but I am ready for a table with a mechanical lift.

I liked the company I ordered from because they were most reasonably priced and offered free shipping. Saved a couple hundred dollars.

I just went to my first CE and the instructor for that class said there is a thing can't remember what it is called but they will pay for half of a hydralic table if it goes down to 18 inches because it is "handicapp accessable" so it is helping expand your business, she ordered 3 or 4 and got 1/2 off all of them because og this, she called to see if it were still covered since you have to go down the stairs to get to her office and they said YES! Because it shows she is trying to accomadate handicap people. I will e-mail her and get back to you on the whole deal, I thought it was a great idea!

I know that I have found the table of my dreams. Its the Athlegen Access table. It is fabulous! I have had a desire for an electric table for about 2yrs. I have checked out the websites, read some of the reviews on this site and finally found the link to my dreamtable. Thanks TexasGal!
It looks like I will be getting the table from Chicago if all goes well.
