27th March 2025 – (Hong Kong) A 45-year-old massage therapist, Chien Ping, has been accused of attempting to rape a female student from mainland China while she was asleep during a massage session. The case commenced today (27th March) at the High Court, where the defendant denied the charges against him.
The prosecution outlined that the victim fell asleep while receiving a massage from the accused. She awoke in the early hours of the morning, feeling a weight pressing down on her lower body. In a state of shock, she discovered that her underwear had been pulled down, and the therapist’s trousers were also at his knees, with visible signs of arousal. In panic, she fled the establishment and reported the incident to the police.
Chien Ping is accused of attempting to rape the then 21-year-old victim on 26th June 2023, at a premises located on Nathan Road in Yau Ma Tei.
The prosecution revealed that the defendant had been employed at the massage parlour for approximately three to four years. At the time of the incident, the victim was a fourth-year university student studying in Guangzhou. She had travelled to Hong Kong with her boyfriend on 24th June, but he returned to the Mainland the following day, leaving her alone in the city. She visited the massage parlour around 11pm, where only the accused was present.
After discussing the service, the victim agreed to pay HK$198 for a one-hour massage. Following a change of clothes provided by the parlour, she fell asleep on the massage bed. The defendant woke her after an hour, and she consented to extend the session for an additional hour, during which she again fell asleep.
At approximately 2am, she woke to the sensation of pressure on her lower body and found her shorts and underwear pulled down. Alarmed by the situation, she grabbed her phone and exited the premises to seek help.
However, she had left her glasses behind, and due to the dim lighting, she struggled to orient herself. Upon returning to retrieve her belongings, she managed to collect her glasses and clothing before waiting for the police to arrive. The defendant followed her, attempting to engage in conversation, but she instructed him to keep his distance.
Upon police arrival, the defendant was arrested. He admitted to providing massage services but denied any wrongdoing.
