A massage therapist suspected of sexually assaulting a pregnant woman in Mesa made an initial appearance in court Tuesday.

Mesa police arrested David Ryska after a woman identified him as the massage therapist who sexually assaulted her when he came to her home Nov. 17 to perform a prenatal massage to relieve pelvic pain, according to a police report filed in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Ryska was booked into a Maricopa County jail, where he is being held on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court Nov. 28.

Ryska was sent to the woman's home by a company she found during a search online.

During the massage, Ryska made the comment, "It's a good thing your husband is not home," according to the report. She commented that the massage was for therapy.

Toward the end of the massage, Ryska penetrated the woman's vagina with his finger, the report stated. She was surprised and shocked, but she only told him to "keep it outside the clothes," the report stated.

Moments later, Ryska placed his mouth on the woman's vagina, and she told him to leave immediately.

Ryska reportedly packed up his equipment, apologized and left. He told the woman that he would not charge her for the massage, according to the report.

Later, under the supervision of police detectives, the woman called Ryska and confronted him about what he did to her.

Ryska apologized, said he had never done that before, and said his head went blank. He said he did not go to the woman's house with the intent of assaulting her.

He also claimed he was ready for the consequences, the report states.

Ryska is a licensed massage therapist in Arizona, according to state records.

During his arrest Monday, Ryska told police that what he did was wrong, said the victim was probably traumatized and that even he was traumatized because of what he did.

"David mentioned he wished he could go back in time and make the incident never happen," according to the police report.
