MILLCREEK — A licensed massage therapist at a Millcreek spa has been charged with sexually abusing two women he was massaging.
Kevin Rand, 47, of Millcreek, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony, and sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor.
Two women who scheduled massages at A New Day Spa, 3975 S. Highland Drive, claimed Rand inappropriately touched them while receiving massages, according to charging documents. One incident allegedly occurred on Feb. 25 and the other on Dec. 16.
One woman told him "that's too close" during the massage, and ended her session.
Another claimed Rand told her she would have to take off her underclothing for a full body massage, even though she had been allowed to keep them on during prior appointments, according to charging documents. Rand then inappropriately touched her during the massage, the charges state.
He was arrested on Monday. Rand was certified as a licensed masseuse in 2011, according to state records. The Division of Occupational Licensing currently lists his license as "limited active. … meaning that (he) shall not practice as a massage therapist in any way or manner, until the allegations described above have been resolved," according to an order filed by the division.
Prosecutors have asked for a $100,000 bail.
A person who answered the phone at A New Day Spa said Rand is no longer an employee.
