This is a good topic....Hopefully others will jump on board and share with you some thoughts on the different types of music they use in their experience with Massage Therapy.  Music helps me in Massage.  My clients share that some like the same music each time they are given a Massage Therapy Session while others like a variety of music.I have a tendency to use intrumental peices.  Many times they have nature sound behind the music.The CD's I have are: 1) Winter Warmth by Aaron Davis2) Body & Soul: Forever Love distributed by Greenbrier International out of Chesapeak, Va 233203) Echoes of Nature Thunderstorm: The Natural Sounds of the Wilderness4) Music for Relaxation (a 2 CD set) 1 w Music 1 w/o5) pure streams by Tom Hambleton (water flowing and sounds of nature)These are good and I do like the variety I have accrued so farSincerely,CaringHandsMss

I abolutely love David Grisman's, Dogwood CD! Its all instrumental and he plays the mandolin, but of course there are other instruments. Some songs are a little quick tempo, so you might want to save it for the clients that are music inthusists. Grisman used to play alot with jerry garcia and was in the band Old and in the Way with garcia among other bluegrass legends. I strongly suggest it. I tends to get bored with the whales and flutes and all that typical stuff. Sound Tribe Sector Nine can be good for the younger folk, but some songs are too fast, so I just download and compile the good ones. No worries, thry support free music trade.Another great slow acoustic cd is Michael Housers, Door Harp. Houser used to play with the band Widespread Panic until he passed a couple summers ago from cancer. He compiled this cd before he died, so it has a lot of emotion.And if you are massaging friends that like some funk, try Karl Denson. Anything is good. Well, even if not for massage, I suggest it anyways. He rocks! He plays the saxaphone and is so soulful.

A fellow student has a cd I'm trying to get a copy of..it's of "singing bowls". I don't know where she got it or what it is called, but the music is very peaceful; excellent for massage. They're tuned bowls that are supposed to be pitched to activate different chakras.

I use Seven Metals by Benjamin Iobst - it's singing bowls, two tracks, 55 minutes.Actually, music just distracts me lately, so that's about the only cd I use for massage anymore. Occasionally I'll mix it up and use whale songs [no music], and I'm considering buying a cd of just heartbeat sounds.
