JENSEN BEACH —
A massage therapist at a Jensen Beach spa is facing a criminal charge after a woman alleged that he touched her inappropriately during a session.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday it had arrested Joseph Paul Correia III, 50, of Port St. Lucie on a charge of sexual battery.

His arrest came after a 62-year-old woman told sheriff’s investigators she was receiving a massage for a hamstring injury when Correia touched her under her clothing. The incident happened July 3 at the Pink Cottage spa on Maple Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office.
It is the second time in recent months a customer at the spa has made an allegation again Correia.
In April, a 42-year-old woman told investigators that Correia touched her inappropriately during a massage.
In that instance, a spa manager declined to make Correia available to deputies for a statement and referred the matter to an attorney, the sheriff’s office said.

Following the most recent allegation, the spa’s owner signed a paper acknowledging she had read a written statement provided by the accuser.
It was not clear whether Correia gave a statement to authorities. He was released on bond this week.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have had a similar experience to call Detective Ryan Pearlman at 772-220-7104 or 772-220-7060. Investigators with the sheriff’s Special Victims Unit are trained to respect victims’ privacy.
