so i'll be there a month was wonderin, is it okay area for sala fama, bonitas, kriss, and las gatitas? i've been to euros but it was raining and if criminals are like normal people they were all in the taverns having a beer?? is this an area for cabs only in the daytime and what about between like bonitas and las gatitas?? any input is appreciated and except for greengo, (unless he is having a drug free day?? : : ) i listen to..

and sorry but i won't fit in to tico disguise as i'm in my 50s and all grey, wear shorts and tshirts, and am more than 28% overweight, 6ft tall...so i'm not going to look like a tico..although if i wore a dress maybe i could pass as one of the bigass gringas we see each and everyday in gringaland... : : :twisted:

I routinely visit all of the places you mention plus the pensiones on 6, molina rojo and la mansion I am bald and gray wear shorts and am 10 per cent over weight and have never had a problem day or night

I am a big fan of Las Gatitas.I was there on opening day.The area is not bad at all. I have yet to see a real bad area in San Jose.And however bad it would be would be minor league compared to parts of SEA.Just use sopme common sense, and you will be fine.

Except for the areas around 6th (Casa Portuguesa et al) I think just about any where during the day is okay. But night is a differnt story. Heads up no matter what time of day. If you look Gringo, you have a sign that says "Waiting to be robbed when I am not paying attention" blinking above your head.

A little rrio of shops (soda, baker and carniceria) near one of my properties was shot up the other day. Three guys on motorcycles rode up, got off their bikes, and shot up the place. It was obviously a warning -- don't do business here. They did not aim at anyone and in fact told people to get out of the way as they shot up the TV, meat counter etc. We are talking middle class Tico area -- semi-rural, single family residences and small fincas.


It's everywhere.
