Anyone tried the organic massage oil, custom blend from Lotus Touch?

Nope, I have the lotus touch organic cream though. Thought I'd give it a try this summer. It's ok, but I prefer my regular lotus touch products.

Boston Jojoba, now known as The Jojoba Company, http://www.jojobacompany.com , has organic jojoba for sale for $66 per gallon. They still have their original too, which they refer to as pesticide free selling for $50 a gallon. From what I understand, they switched from producing their own jojoba to getting it from another source, so once the pesticide free stuff is gone, they will only have the organic available at $50 a gallon.

I went ahead and bought 4 gallons of the pesticide free stuff while it is still available. Should last for about a year.

The product descriptor in MW catalog says:

Custom blend of certified organic sunflower, safflower, sesame, olive, jojoba, rose hip and flax seed oils. This massage oil is rich in vitamins, minerals, Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acids. Does not contain nut oils, mineral oils or direct alcohols. Rich in beneficial certified organic and botanical extracts, this massage oil uses Vitamin E as a natural preservative.

This sounds good but I think I may order the pesticide-free jojoba, from The Jojoba Company. Thanks Greatlakes, for the link and the recommendation...other members have so kindly recommended them and jojoba in the past, too.

Oh no! I didnt know that they weren't producing their own anymore, I thought that both options would be available from now on..I must not have read the notice they sent me thoroughly enough. Thanks, I should stock up as well. Are they changing the price for the organic gallons from $66 to $50 once pesticide-free sells out, or was that a typo?

since taking 300 hours in clinical aromatherapy, i stopped using all commercially made massage lotions. most of them contain parabens or other unnatural preservatives. my aromatherapy teacher made a brilliant point: if it's white, it's not natural. when was the last time you made tea that came out white?

so, i now handcraft all of my lotions using only organic ingredients. they have a very limited shelf life, but i don't want to use something potentially harmful when a client is coming in to improve their health.

i would recommend visiting http://www.ewg.org and finding out exactly what the potentially harmful effects of the ingredients are.

White tea would indeed be nasty. However. I was watching Good Eats the other night and he made mayonaise. I know, it is not exactly healthy eats. I didn't say I made some...

But you can certainly find these ingredients organic and all natural: egg, oil, lemon juice, vinegar, spices.

Whip the stuff and it is white and all natural.

However, you are correct, some of the emulsifiers in the lotions are certainly petroleum (which is also natural, you know, dead animals and flowers) and other nasty stuff.

I make up an aloe and shea butter mixture and it is white as white and has no nasty things in it (even without adding Argilez white clay, which again is natural). Coconut oil is white and it's all natural, the list goes on.....

I also make a shea butter and aloe mixture! It's 1-part white clay, 2-parts aloe and 3-parts shea butter. Comes out perfectly white. I use it as one of my wraps and it's great on the sun-damaged skin that we get so much here in the "Sunshine State"

Yep...that's where I got it from. I had forgotten that we had a thread on it. Here I was thinking....wow...what a coincidence. hahaha

It works great!

I've wondered about leaving out the clay. I'll try that next time I make a batch.

melb - my shea butter is unrefined and is not white. it has a yellow hue. also, i should have stated that i don't use animal products in my formulations. only organic, unrefined plants, herbs and essential oils. so far, nothing has come out white.

the shea butter I use is not white either but once it is melted and whipped up with the aloe, the mixture is - it's all in the wrist action Unrefined coconut oil is white.

I'm actually unsure how you can have an unrefined essential oil for any oils that are steam distilled, which is most of them - extraction of the essential oil is refining the plant extracts - sure many citrus oils are pressed, and some EOs are traditionally made by Effleurage/Maceration, eg rose, jasmine (now it is often chemical absolutes, I avoid those, I try to use the old fashioned extracts, though the child labour can make that an ethical dilema)

Right now I'm using chemical-free, 100% pure, filtered, expellar pressed jojoba (organic is also available).

yes, that's it, though I just use shea and aloe, usually no clay, and I've never used rose powder. I keep it in the fridge. I think you need the clay to make it a bit firmer at room temp, but I don't worry about that, anyway I'm happy with just aloe/shea

Just a clarification: the Lotus touch massage oil is probably organic, but their cream & lotion begin with organic ingredients and end with a list of chemical additives & preservatives that they don't advertise. For example, here's the full ingredient list for Lotus Touch Organic Massage Cream: Aqua (deionized water) infusion of certified organic botanical extracts of Malva Flowers Blue, Chamomile, Marigold, certified organic Aloe Vera, certified organic Sunflower Oil, certified organic Shea Butter, certified organic Olive Oil, certified organic Flax Seed Oil, certified organic Jojoba Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Octyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Vitamin E, Carbopol, Dimethicone, Triethanolamine, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbanate.

*I orderered this cream back in April & was really disappointed by the true ingredient list. Felt like false advertising to me. :x
