I have a long time client with fibromyalgia that has chronic pain in right scapula, neck and arm region.
Hadn't seen her in a while, and when she came in yesterday she said a few months back she signed up for a "pole dancing" class on a whim! She said during the six weeks that she was taking the class, her pain diminished dramatically!
I guess all that hanging and swinging from the pole was providing her with some wonderful stretching. I thought it was a delightful antidote. She said the class was a riot, and it just tickled me because she's almost 60. She's very attractive, but pretty quiet and conservative, and it would have been the last form of exercise I would have ever imagined her doing.
Yeah to stretching our boundaries!
