A massage parlor employee was arrested Wednesday and cited for allegedly making arrangements “to conduct illegal sexual activity” with an undercover police officer.
The citation was issued as the Redding Police Department did five massage parlor compliance checks. Four of the five complied with the law and did not solicit illicit activity with the undercover officer, according to police.
But when the undercover officer went to Golden Touch Massage on Churn Creek, Li Xie, 47, of Redding “made arrangements to conduct illegal sexual activity,” police said.
At that point, other officers entered the business, along with a city of Redding code enforcement officer, to conduct a compliance inspection, police said.
During the search, officers found lingerie, condoms and alcoholic beverages, which are prohibited at massage parlors, police said.
Li Xie was arrested and released with a misdemeanor citation for prostitution. The business’ business license was also revoked, police said.
It was the second Redding massage parlor sting in the past six months. In July four massage parlors targeted secretly offered prostitution services.
Police said in July that said four women between the ages of 39 and 60 were cited on suspicion of prostitution on Friday as part of the sting.
The women told police they were "freely and willfully" prostituting themselves for money and were not victims of human trafficking.
