Room Dividers...

I am going nuts trying to figure out how to divide my new office. I figure I will run curtains along the area where I want to separate it, but what do I attatch the curtain rod to? Some sort of post? Drop a line from the ceiling? I don't know??? Building a free standing tri-fold unit was my first idea, but then I wasn't so sure about it since I would need at least 2 of them and they are expensive to buy and I don't have time to build them now!!! so I figured the curtains...

A MT friend divided her room by placing a 4x4 as a column and then using paneling to make a wall. There was no door but it made a nice separation. She didn't make it as secure as a regular wall so she could take it down if her office moved.

In an area I used at one seforum.xxxe, I put hooks into the ceiling and used thin ropes to hang curtain rod and curtain, so the gap was at the top not at the bottom

IKEA has a track system you can attach to the ceiling and easily make the curtain drop any length you like. I think it's KVARTAL system doesn't look much online, you use panels of fabric. The displays I've seen in IKEA of it have made me think if I ever needed a room divider that would be the first thing I investigated further.

I was trying to find that last night, but couldn't. They look great in person, and you can use pretty much any type of curtian or fabric you want.

There is an IKEA in Jersey just off 95- might be worth checking out if that isn't too far from you.

Thankfully a friend of mine solved my problem. She was trying to get rid of a dresser that had a mirror attatched to it. I wasn't going to take the mirror, just the dresser... but her husband and my father put it in the truck anyway. I am glad I took it because it really separates my room nicely. I will still put up the curtain, but it is perfect to attatch the curtain to without having to drill holes in the wall or ceiling!!!

By the way, I was just in Ikea, and I didn't see that, but it is definitely on their website.
