SAN BRUNO -- City officials are moving to close two massage parlors following the arrests of two women on suspicion of prostitution, according to police.
The effort was spurred by an overhaul in June of rules and regulations for operating a massage parlor in the city.
Police said several minor violations were discovered during compliance inspections and undercover investigations between October and March. In addition, two women were arrested on suspicion of prostitution: Jiemei Yang, 36, of Sacramento, on Nov. 5 at Sunrise Massage and Mai Phuong Nguyen-Vu, 56, of San Francisco, on Jan. 11 at Go Healthy Spa.
Police said the city plans to close the massage parlors where the alleged prostitution activity was discovered.
Additional inspections and investigations will take place later this year, according to police.
Anyone with information about illegal activity at massage parlors can call the San Bruno Police Department at 650-616-7100. Those wishing to remain anonymous can email sbpdtipline@sanbruno.ca.gov.
