scoliosis (sp? sorry)

hi there, i have scolosis (sorry if spelt wrong) and the middle of my spine curves (i look like the hunch back of notre dame) - but i was wondering if anyone has any advice on who i should go to to try to help?

anyone tried bowen technique or alexander? i did go to a chiropractioner but i didnt feel it helped one bit (just felt i was paying £30 for 10 mins work).

this is getting worse and worse, making me have neck pain and now headaches...please help?

I have a mild scoliosis (since always) and went to see an osteopath last week...and he cliked things, moved bones: I felt quite new and was breathing fully again after that.
this is by far the most radical treatment I have ever had, after doing lots of physio which never helped.

the osteopath basically moves your squeletton back to how it should be.of course I believe ther are limits to what he can do.

however, the first treatment he did nothing but taking notes and did a drawing of me standing naked except for my knickers...oh, I am not complaining about the nakedness, I actually stripped myself because I wanted results, and not work within prudish distance where the doctor is not feeling your body properly (like in a "normal" consultation with a GP or physio). So anyway, I paid £35 just for a chat and really feel this was exagerated but came back to see what it was going to be about...and that is when he moved things (squeezing me, not nice, I am telling you!).

My only frustration is how I pay him £30 for 2 or 3 movements which he did: I feel he could do much more within 1/2 hour but instead left it for the next time (more money).

I don't know if this is the common practice...I should enquire on this forum actually.

Nevermind: try it, it could be just what you need! I really love it and am going back !

Julie Nicholls is in Swindon, Wilts.
She does something called body mind coaching. For your money you will get definite hands-on treatment - she does easy bodywork which won't hurt at all - like massage but incorporates a lot of other things aswell. Try googling for her I don't have a contact to hand.

I know how you feel.
But if you had 2/3 clicks, feel lucky.
I think mine was only 1/2 clicks per session!
I was told that my body had taken a lot for one day. I actually wanted him to click all of my vertebras LOL
Anyway, osteopathy may work for some but Quntum-Touch is very gentle, just touch of hands and body's intelligence takes over. No manipulation.

No not that I'm aware of. Hadn't heard of Bodytalk before so looked it up on google. No it's not that - there's so much out there isn't there.
Julie's work is an amalgamation of training includes EMDR, Trager Approach and NLP as far as I know but is very body-based.

hi Periwinkle, I treat quite a few people with scoliosis in my Pilates classses, and they definitely improve. I agree about QT too, as I do that too, and it helps people. It seems quite cheap to train inQT and the first course is just a day. I would advise anyone to do it.
In the meantimeare you doing anything to make your scoliosis worse? Shoulder bags? Sitting awkwardly?
try to keep yourself as symmetrical as possible, even though it may seem like an effort, so that your muscles know what they are supposed to do.

I am coming up on my two year bench mark inwhich I had spinal fusion surgery due to scoliosis. Recently, I have been experiencing pain that feels like pin pricks and sometimes stabbing at the upper portion of my thoracic spine; especially if I lean over at my waist for an extended moment. (This is the part of my skin that I never fully regained touch sensation after my surgery.) I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced such discomfort and what they did to help to aliviate it. Thanks!!!!
