A massage therapist was arrested Thursday at a Severna Park spa and charged with sexually assaulting a woman who'd fallen asleep during a massage.
Anne Arundel police said the client filed a complaint after an incident Jan. 12. She said she was getting a massage from a male massage therapist at the Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa, 550 Ritchie Highway, when she fell asleep. When she woke up, she said she realized the masseur was sexually assaulting her.
She informed police about 6:30 p.m., and officers identified the massage therapist as Larry Donnell Doye, 33, of District Heights.
Officers obtained a warrant for his arrest on Feb. 21, but didn't take him into custody until Thursday. He was charged with second-degree assault, as well as a third-degree sexual offense and a fourth-degree sex offense. A third-degree sexual offense is a felony.
Doye, who was released on a $5,000 bond, has been relieved of duties at the Hand and Stone Spa, police said. The spa's staff is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
Neither Doye nor officials at the business could be reached for comment.
Police also asked for public's help in identifying other possible victims. Anyone with additional information can contact the Anne Arundel Sex Offense Unit at 410-222-4732 or call the anonymous tip line at 410-222-4700.
