Sports Bars For College Football

Guys I am going to be in CR this week on business for 4 days.....I will be in San Jose on Sat and would like to see the Washington/Ohio State game if possible........is there a sports bar that might have a satellite feed for this game?

Seriously last year a couple of guys posted how the Hotel M was, in their opinion, the best place to watch the games.

San Jose is in dire need of a good sports bar.

To be a good true sports bar you need to have direct TV with the sunday ticket for the NFL. So you can get all the games. Their is a similiar package avalible for college football also.

Alas the SL has neither so I would not even call that place a sports bar.
You cannot count on getting the game of your choice there.

The colonial has direct TV with the sunday ticket but they only have 3 or 4 feeds, so getting your game can be a problem there as there are 7 or 8 early NFL games. The service there is almost non existent and most of the TV' are small.


With all the gringo's in SJ you would think there would be a place where you would be guaranteed to see your game of choice.

I am thinking that Macs american bar in la sabana could be a true sports bar.

Even in Lima, Peru where there are not many americans there was a great sports bar where you could watch any game you wanted.

The poster mentioned the Washington-Ohio State game specifically. This game is on ESPN on Saturday at 3:30 pm ET, which is 1:30 SJ time. Any place--bar or hotel--that carries the U.S. ESPN--not ESPN Deportes--will have the game. I believe this includes the SL, and so does the DR/BM--one day last October I spent a couple of hours or so around mid-day keeping track of two college games going on at once.

A little information.... just because ESPN "somewhere" in the States is carrying a certain game doesn't mean that Amnet (the cable provider here) will carry it. Espn carries different feeds to different locations in the States. Usually ESPN and ESPN Deportes do not carry an early Saturday game. The sattelite feeds at the SL and the Colonial are your best chance, unless it's raining at which time both lose their feeds. The ABC feed which along with NBC and CBS come from Denver and usually carry the national games. Hope that helps even though it's confusing.

SL has both the Amnet feed and ESPN satelite feed, If it is on ESPN they will have it.

College Football in Escazu

I know it's a bit off the beaten mongering path, but if you are truly jonesing for college football, I've had good luck at Henry's Sports Bar in Escazu. Mucho TVs, good food, affordable beers, upscale environment. Though, no p4p nearby :

I have always gone to sportsmans and it is hard to beat, but Hotel M is a good idea. The night of the CRT party, they had a couple games going. They have a ton a screens.

I agree, there is a need for a true sports bar, one with satalite and multiple games on at once. It is hard to believe they don't have one with a sportsbook here. Seems like it would be a natural.
