A massage therapist in St. Johns County faces a sex charge after an arrest Wednesday that stemmed from a recent complaint by a customer, according to the St. Augustine Police Department.

Tom Dean Murphy, 67, of the 100 block of Cowry Road was booked into jail on one count of sexual battery after he was interviewed by detectives, police said.

The unidentified woman reported that she froze and didn’t move when a massage therapist began to massage her privates below the waist on June 21, police said.

Murphy is employed by Debbie’s Day Spa at 403 Anastasia Blvd., according to his arrest report.

Police said he was booked into jail with bail set at $75,000.
