Stayin at Jaco last day. Problem for airport departure??

Hola.I was thinking of staying the last aft./evening at Jaco (always been stayin' at the gulch- presidente, etc.). Is it too far from the airport? Do the buses leave jaco frequently *or reasonable taxis?

Also, aside from the beatle bar at night*comparable to DR?, are the 'horseback rides' into the equatorial forest aytJaco really cool?

Finally, is it hard to find a place there to stay for 1 night? CRT rates? This is my 4th time in CR, and ALWAYS having akick-ass time in the gulch.
(Then again, should I just forget Jaco, and continue my stay in the gulch? Ahh, problems in paradise!)

I prefer to go to Jaco during the middle of my trip, while "book-ending" the trip w/ days in San Jose. Just not worth the stress of trying to make sure I get back in time for my exit flight, too many things can go wrong.

Regarding the horseback rides....there are operators on the beach who have horses that are available for tours up the mountain which does take you in the "jungle" a bit. I did one of them, can't remember how much I paid. It was OK, and I saw some monkeys & some tucans. Remember to bring alot of water, as it's hot. I actually felt sorry for the poor horses. They are kind of small down there, compared to the ones we have here. I wouldn't do it again, just because I feel they don't treat their animals very good.

I'm with JunFun on this. Do you really want the stress of trying to get from JACO to the airport on your last day?

JACO is a nice place to visit but if you're going to make the drive over and back you really should stay at least two days or not bother at all.

If you do decide to go over there I would recommend taking a canopy tour.

i did and doing the samething in june when i go too start in sjo and go to jaco for few or couple days but make sure to end the trip in sjo...there is just too much that could go wrong with the trip and getting to airport...
use paradise hotel in jaco get the crt rate they are super nice to work with and all....i got to jaco by using johana and g and g escort 60 each way but the driver was just awsome and worth every penny extra to go that route......god i miss sweating my a-- off at the beatle bar and looking at so many chicas that are just so dam hot

I stayed in Jaco 6 nights in December, the horse ride through the rain forest and up the mountain was pretty fun, the views of the ocean/beach were great, take a camera. I was solo,but met some gringoes from Tenn.We pounded several beers before we went.The guide was great, one of the guys fromTenn. spoke spanish so that helped. The guide told us about a place about twenty miles away that had good lobster, and 30 dollar girls. I didnt go but the other guys did, the horse guide took them in his own car and they said they had a blast, good lobster and great chicas.Anyway my flight was sunday at 2 pm, I check out a 9am, the guy at the front desk called me a cab, 70 bucks, got to the airport at 11:30, no problem,Raw

Beach cities with Airports

I always leave San Jose to spend the end of my trip at the beaches. Seems that after the first few pops, I tend to mellow out and want to really experience the pura vida. I have tried bringing girls from the city, but "Dont bring sand to the beach" sums that experience up."

Point is, I have had the best experience ending the trip in a beach town with an airport. For $50 or so, you can take a flingt for less than an hour to San Jose Airport and board your flight on the last day of your trip. Very clean departure directly from the beach. That is what I will do next week.

Beach towns with Airports: Tamarindo, Nosara, Playa Carrillo, Punta Islita, Tambor, and near by to Playa Hermosa. Tamarindo, to my knowledge, is the best of these for mongering.
