A new massage therapist office opened Sept. 1 at 2014 Hwy. 45 N.
Myron Kidd is a holistic massage therapist who has worked with Bella Derma Spa and the Mississippi State University athletic department. He was educated at Texas Center for Massage Therapy.
Kidd explained he had been involved in a car accident in 2009 that left him on crutches. He couldn't walk without the assistance of a crutch for three years, until a massage therapist righted his leg. From then, he became interested in the craft.
Kidd's Holistic Therapy Massage offers many common massage techniques, such as deep tissue massage, sports massage and chair massage. He also offers hot stone therapy, Shiatsu massage and Reiki sessions.
According to naturalhealers.com, a resource for information relating to massage therapy and bodywork, Reiki was invented in 1922 by Dr. Mikao Usui. Compared to the highly physical art of massage, Reiki emphasizes gentle touches and sometimes the mere proximity of a practitioner's hands. Reiki uses up to 20 hand positions and has since become incorporated into hybrid Reiki massages. The purpose of Reiki is to cleanse and balance the body's "energy system." This serves to strengthen the body's natural regenerative systems to establish optimum health.
Kidd's practice is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sundays. Now through October Holistic Therapy Massage will be offering a grand opening special for Swedish massage sessions for $45 per hour.
The Hardee's located at 411 Hwy. 12 in Starkville may be getting a new neighbor in the vacant lot next door. Burger King has submitted a site plan to the building department that is currently under review.
Burger King already has a restaurant located on the Mississippi State University campus. There was a Burger King previously located at 701 Hwy. 12 E. where Chick-Fil-A is now.
Finally, last Tuesday saw the close of the Huddle House at 809 Hwy. 12. Attempts to contact the owner of the location to learn what would become of it were unanswered.
