Tips for a band newbie? I've got a new band.?

Ok so my three friends and I made a new band called fRame of fRiend$. We aren't very good yet because we don't quite know how to practice together. I know this may sound odd but we have recorder, ele. guitar, and keyboard and our singer get VERY nervous singing in front of the boy member in our band. Any tips for stage fright, and tips on how to rise our band up higher and get some things going? Also tips for genres of music to be? Thanks.

Once we get enough money we are going to ditch recorder and get a drumset. Also help writing songs? thnx ppl who answer! We rlly appreciate it!

The singer has to think that you're not performing for the guy member you're performing for the crowd. If she messes up he'll just cheer you on. And so will the crowd.

Maybe the singer and the guy members of the band need to get to know each other more. So she feels comfortable around them like she does with well you and the girl members of the band.

You have no leader. You need someone to help you who knows about music to stand up front while you play and to direct you. In other words, in classical music terms, you need a conductor. Time for you to get a sound engineer/roady/conductor type person.

Don't forget that on stage, you are not hearing what the audience are hearing but a different mix totally. that's why the control desk is at the back of the room and why people on stage often think their own instrument is not loud enough when it actually is. You need to trust whoever that is to get it right and realise that on stage is not the best place to hear your sound.

As to your singer getting nervous, that's fine. She's got to learn somehow and not everyone is blessed with no stage fright. She will improve with practice. Just give her positive feedback and encouragement. She is brave enough in a lot of peoples eyes in just getting up there in the first place.

Maybe you could also go out and do something not band related for team building/ I'd suggest a climbing wall, something that means you need to rely on each other and trust each other.

And have fun. There's no point in being in a beginning band if it's not to have fun.
