Can any one help - I am trying to locate a course where I can learn Auricualr acupunture I would like to offer it for adictions espcially nicotine. I work in the NHS and they will not sponser me to do it. It is used in other addictions and would like to b able to offer it to my NHS smokers. The only course I can find away from the one for the NHS is £1200 which is far beyond what I could afford. Any ideas?

Where do you live? They run the courses on Merseyside. But....they are expensive and the figure you quote is the one I know of. A lot of people get the courses paid for by their employer (the ones that I know who do it). Could you get them to pay for you? I can get details of local courses to me and see if that helps you find something.

Yes they do run courses for the NHS but they can only be used in the NHS at the moment in the PCT I work for their is a ban on training and £600 is more than all our combined training budget for the year. The joys of the NHS

Mmmm...the only thing I can come up with is this.... fund-raising? You could do something to raise sponsorship. If your employers would agree to it then maybe you could raise money for your course that way? Maybe if you approached them about it with some good evidence then they would give you something towards the cost?

Looks like you might be dropping out of an aeroplane soon then?

Have just seen this so don't know if it is too late to reply ~ I do auricular acupuncture at work within a substance misuse service for people with drug and alcohol problems and I trained with NADA in Liverpool ~ it cost about £350 but I don't know if it would be the same as the training you would need to work with nicotene addiction.

Yes I do know about this course it caters for the police and the NHS you can only use it within the public sector.

Hi,
My freind, did a course recently with the BSY group for Auricular therapy using acupressure techniques with a probe. This was with a correspondence course and I think it cost her about £200 but not sure exactly it may have been less than that.

I don't know if that would be any help to you and I am sure if you did a search on BSY it would come up. When she qualified with them, she had been given a certificate and the exam was marked by an independant body and she can now use letters after her name to this effect.

I don't know any more about it myself though sorry, it is not really my thing.
